Metroid defined itself as a flagship horror staple in 1986. Heavily inspired by 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the classic Ailen film, Metroid has been keeping the space-horror genre alive and thriving. As the years have gone on, this classic gaming title has in💝tღroduced more and more creatures into their bestiary. Each year, these additions get more and more terrifyingly horrible.
Though it is impossible to sum up more than thirty years of game history in a short article, there are some smaller details of Metroid we can focus on. Specifically, it is very easy to pick out the scariest entities that have been introduced to the Metroid universe. Without further ado, let's get into 10 of the best additions to the series.

The Coven made their first and only app♛earance in Super Metroid. Frankly, we should all be thankful for that, as there are few creatures more terrifying, even by Metroid standards.
Covens were created by Phantoon on the Wrecked Ship. Phantoon melded the souls of those that died on the ship into one grotesque abomination. The souls that are a part of the Coven do not exist in harmony, which is obvious by the eternal pained expressions on their multiple faces showing that they are in quite a lot of pain and distress. It's a good thing that in space no one can hear you scream, because you'd probably never want to hear what these ghosts have to say.

Wav🌜ers have been a recurring mainstay for the series since the first game. Wavers are giant fly-like creatures with huge wings that ℱhave a stony texture. Though a person-sized insect is scary enough, what makes them especially scary is how they hunt prey.
Wavers will rocket themselves at their prey and attempt to embed themselves into the body 𓂃of their victim. Their heavy stony wings serve a dual purpose. First, they will impale prey and stick them to a surface, preventing escapeಌ. Then, the force of impact liquifies the organs of prey so it can suck everything out like a giant smoothie.

Gawrons certainly have a face that only a mother can love. Just imagining these things scurrying toward you at high speed is enough to make anyone's skin crawl. The true terror of this monster, however, is in the long teeth that ring its mouth. They certainly make it look fearsome, but they have a sinister purpose attached to them.
Gawrons will fling themselves at foes at high speeds. The velocity of the creatures will force those long teeth into the torso of an unfortunate victim. The multiple puncture wounds from this bite will slowly drain the prey's fluids into the gaping maw of the Gawron.

Skeeks are little more than a chicken head on a stubby pair of legs. The appearance of these creatures is not overly scary. Some would even say 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:they are funny-looking. Their terror comes from how they hunt you.
Skeeks are literally lava-proof and will hang around the surface of lava pools like an alligator, waiting for prey to come by. When something is close enough, the Skreek will burst forth from the lava with a deafening shriek. If this wasn't enough, Skreeks can also shoot venom, so even giving their pools a wide berth will not keep you safe from their fowl wrath.

It should be no surprise that the Genesis creature makes an appearance on this list. Essentially Metriod's 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:imitation of the iconic Xenomorph, this creepy🦹 crawler can really make your hair s꧑tand on end.
Genesis crawls through vents in ships to better ambush prey. They have saliva that is extremely caustic and can melt straight through metal, just like the blood of the Xenomorph. If its inspiration wasn't clear enough, Genesis also has the same smooth domed head of the Xenomorph. Remember to always check twice before walking under a vent.

Doppelgangers are a frequent archetype of the horror genre, and Metroid was not left out of this trend. SA-X or Samus Aran-X is the result of a DNA copying parasite attaching itself to Samus's suit.
SA-X is♑ much like Dark Samus in that it can perfor🌊m all the skills of Samus and is her equal in all regards. What makes SA-X more terrifying is that it can reproduce and create more clones. Additionally, when backed into a corner, SA-X can transform into a mutated super beast that is truly the stuff of nightmares.

The Reaper Vine is a rather forgettable enemy in the Metroid series. Appearing in Metroid Prime, this plant is little more than an environmental hazard. These vines will stick out from ceiling💧s or walls, and take swipes at Samus when she passes by.
What makes th🤪e Reaper vine really scary is what is implicated by its anatomy. These vines all have eyes, meaning they are rather complex organisms. It is very likely that the Reaper Vines are only a single appendage of a larger animal. Based on what we know about flora, plants can grow tremendously large. It is poss✨ible that these vines are a part of a much larger creature that uses the appendages to drag victims back to its true lair. The horror of the Reaper Vine resides in how little we really know about them.

The Metroids are168澳洲幸运5开奖网: a fascinating alien race that inhabits the sta♕rs alongside Samus Aran. The jellyfish-like creatures 🐽that are most iconic to the game are, in fact, only infants of the species. The Metroids have a five-stage lifecycle, generally terminating with this entry on the list.
Omega Metroids are the apex predators of this universe. They are life-energy siphoning organ🌳isms with extreme speed and dura🃏bility to help them consume even more. They have a long sticky tongue like a frog, so they can even capture prey at distance. Omega Metroids are also tremendous in size, meaning what they cannot kill with speed, they will gladly crush or rend with their talons.

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ridley has always been a staple of the Metroid franchise — so much so, in fact, that the writers are always thinking up new wacky and outlandish ways for the beast to be revived after Samus kills him. Of all these variants, none are so ter💯rifying as Neo🐼 Ridley.
Neo Ridley is the result of the X Parasite absorbing Ridley's genes and cloning him. Ridley on his own was always a monstrous foe to have to tackle. With the introduction of the X-infection, however, he becomes a new kind of nightmare. The X Parasite clones its victims into a stronger, faster, and generally more deadly version of themselves. Think of Ridley, supercharged, on steroids, and with a mean flu, and you have Neo-Ridley.

Emperor Ing embodies all our favorite horror tropes, all rolled into one. He has a formless, tentacled body, very reminiscent of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a Lovecraftian abomination. He has power over light and dark, so he is a nearly insurmountable horror in terms of power. He is ageless and has been around since time immemorialꩲ, stewing and growing larger in the darkness.
This no-nonsense boss is sure to have you shaking in yo♏ur boots the first time you encounter him. His fight is an epic three-phase ordeal, befitting of this royal enemy. Through the fight, Ing undergoes a metamorphosis until he reaches his final form: That of an eldritch monstrosity.
