The Trash Grabber is essentially a direct upgrade to Trash Bags for the most part, though it's still useful to keep a few on hand in case.
They provide a one-time cost for much more utility inside and outside your base, the ability to hold more trash in them than a Trash Bag, especially if you opt for more than one, and quicker collection of trash.
To get one, head to Dan's Hardware in the upper left-hand corner of the map and ask to purchase something from him. You'll find the Trash Grabber at the bottom of the list, and each one only costs 20 dollars, so you'll save money in the long run by buying one instead of Trash Bags.
Dumping full Trash Bags and Trash Grabbers in the cash-for-trash machines is a great way to supplement your income at the beginning of the game before your dealing becomes more consistent.
How To Use The Trash Grabber
The Trash Grabber works almost exactly like picking up Trash by hand. Use the Interact key while looking at a piece of trash to pick it up, and it will get added to the Trash Grabber's inventory.
One of the best places to get a lot of trash at one time is the canal behind the motel, as it gets covered in🗹 trash every day and has several Cash For Trash machines near it.
Each Trash Grabber you have takes up one inventory slot, but they can hold between 5 and 20 trash pieces, depending on the sizes of the items you're picking up:
- Small items take up 5 percent space, and these include Cigarettes, Empty Soil Bags, and Empty Seed Vials.
- The majority of items are medium-sized and take up 10 or 15 percent space, such as Coffee Cups, Soda Cans, Cigarette Boxes, Weed Leaves, and Water Bottles.
- Large items take up 20 percent space, and these include Bongs and Gasoline Cans.
When the Trash Grabber is full, take it to the nearest Cash For Trash machine, open the hatch, and hold the Interact key to begin dumping the contents of its inventory into the machine. Then you just need to press the button to get your cash like usual.
Make sure you're close to the machine and hold the Trash Grabber high when you're dumping its inventory or else the items will often spill onto the ground, and you'll need to pick them back up again.
