A beloved Nintendo franchise might finally be returning, as a Twitter account that could be linked to an F-Zero revival has been discovered.
F-Zero was a futuristic racing game for the Super Nintendo that was developed to show off the Mode 7 technology of the system, which had a faux-3D effect that made the vehicles look like they were floating on the track. The last entry in the F-Zero series was F-Zero Climax in 2004, and Nintendo has shown no interest in reviving the series since. The only love that F-Zero gets is from the Super Smash Bros. franchise, as Captain Falcon has bee𒉰n in every entry of the series.
It was recently discovered that a hidden Super Mario Bros. Twitter account had been created in March, which seemed to be linked to the upcoming 35th-anniversary celebrations for the series. Its legitimacy is unclear, but it appears to be connected to an official Japanese Nintendo email address. A new account has been discovered by on Twitter, with the name. The account has the same dummy name as the Super Mario account, ♌it was created around the same time, and it ꧑also appears to come from a Nintendo email.
It's unclear why these acc𝓀ounts were created so long ago, but it's possible that announcements were planned for E3 2020, pushed back when COVID-19 led to the event being 🎶canceled.
Nintendo hasn't been interested in reviving the F-Zero franchise, yet it's possible that the success of the Switch has caused a change in heart. It didn't take long for the Switch to receive Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Nintendo never releases more than one Mario Kart game per system. It's possible that the success of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is prompting a return of F-Zero, as it's currently the best-selling game on the Switch. Nintendo just might want a new racing game that doesn't interfere with Mario Kart. The Switch's schedule is currently bare; there are rumors that a Direct is incoming which will help fill out the calendar, however, so it's possible that an announcement for a new F-Zero game will be coming soon.
