The Sega Saturn is a console that only garners more respect with the passage of time. It sold poorly and fell into obscurity behind the Playstation and Nintendo 64 in iꦚts day, but in retrospect, it was a console with a library of games on par with that of its competitors or any other Sega console that ever went to market.
Sadly, the obscurity of the Saturn means some of its best games are relatively unknown as well. But many of those titles still have dedicated fanbases, and it's always possible to see developers bring the games to the consoles of modern-day for new players to discover and enjoy. Here's what we'd love to see return.
10 ♔ Dark Savior
Dark Savior is an intriguing platforming and puzzle game with its own personality. It blends genres in a way very few other games did at the time and im�💯�plements a gritty fantasy art style to great effect.
The game isn't without flaws, though, as the isometric camera combined with some questionable movement can make it frustrating at times, and the American release of the game censored certain aspects that seek to engross the player in the gritty environment. A port that fixes these issues would make for an amazing game.
9 🌜 ꦛ The Shining Games
If you're a JRPG fan who's never owned a Sega Saturn, the console's library may be something of a holy grail for you. It's known for having no shortage of fantastic JRPGs, and the games in the Shining series are just a few of those.
The Shining RPGs (Best known for the games like Shining Force and Shining In The Darkness) have⛄ been around for decades. But while many of the old Mega Drive and Game Gear games have modern ports, the Saturn games have been left behind. A shame since games like Shining Force III and Shining The Holy Ark are some of the best in the series.
8 𒁏 Panzer Dragoon II
Panzer Dragoon and its sequel are two of the best games on the Saturn. They're rail shooters that will make you question why this genre of shooter has all but disappeared in newer generations of gaming.
It's a game about riding a laser-shooting dragon. If you're not sold on that premise alone you need your sense of wonder checked. While the original Panzer Dragoon has been remade and re-released on modern consoles, Panzer Dragoon II is still only playable on Sega Saturn.
7 𝄹 Burning Rangers
The Sega Saturn was not only the beginning of Sega's downfall as console makers, but the beginning of Sonic Team's downfall as Sonic developers. While every Sonic game for Saturn is unappealing at best, Sonic Team created some surprisingly great new IPs during the Saturn's run.
Burning Rangers is one of those, and the futuristic firefighting game has a strong cult following despite never getting a follow-up or release outside the Saturn. It could certainly use one, or both, though, as it's a fantastic game with a unique concept that mostly holds up today.
6 🦂 The Legend Of Oasis🐼
The Legend Of Oasis is the follow-up and prequel to the successful Sega Genesis game Beyond Oasis. In contrast, The Legend Of Oasis isn't nearly as well known, but that doesn't mean it isn't a great game.
It's a really fun action RPG that doesn't do much to take advantage of the Saturn's graphical capabilities but makes up for it with great gameplay. Beyond Oasis has been ported several times over the years, but Legend Of Oasis is still only available on the Saturn. It would be great to see a port that bundles both games.
5 ♏ 🦋 Silhouette Mirage
It's rare to see a side-scrolling game with as many unique ideas as Silhouette Mirage. How many other left-to-right moving games can you think of that truly make the player consider the direction of their character in relation to the level? Silhouette Mirage does just this, with a protagonist that has different powers based on whether they're facing right or left.
It's inventive and enthralling from beginning to end. Treasure, the company that made the game, has a policy against sequels. So while we may never see a follow-up to Silhouette Mirage, the possibility of a port is still out there and would be warmly welcomed by Saturn fans.
4 ꦯ ☂ Dragon Force
Dragon Force is a game for anyone nostalgic for the classic era of JRPGs. It combines JRPG and real-time strategy to potent effect, and bundles that up with the standard fantasy storyline and aesthetic you'd expect from this type of game.
If you're wary of a more standard storyline, just know that the layers of complexity are entirely focused on the strategy. 3 Astal
Considering Astal is made by Sega and is one of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:best games from the Saturn fanbase, it is fairly surprising we've never seen any recent port or sequel to the game. It's a 2D platformer that doesn't look quite as nice as the next entry on the list, but it has a lot more variety in gameplay.
It's a game with high replayability and a fantastic soundtrack. 2D platformers are making a resurgence right now with games like Celeste and Shovel Knight showing gamers want more. Astal would make a great addition if Sega decides to port it to newer consoles.
2 ඣ Clockwork Knight
At the tail-end of the era where 2D side-scrolling platformers were all the rage, Clockwork Knight flew under the radar as one of the Saturn's launch titles.
But if you give this game a chance you'll find one of the most charming games of the genre, with an art style that does a great job of being bright, colorful, and creative, despite how awkward many 3D games looked at the time. Clockwork Knight absolutely deserves to make a comeback in the modern-day, as the game will be an easy favorite for any fan of Donkey Kong Country or classic Super Mario.

X-Men vs. Street Fighter is anything but an obscure game. Although most of its fame is rightfully accredited to its arcade and Playstation 1 releases, rather than its Saturn port (Even though the Saturn version came a full year before the PS1's and is considered the superior port).
X-Men vs. Street Fighter is a fantastic fighting game, and the game that kick-started the greater Marvel vs. Capcom fighting series. The fact that nearly 25 years later there's no way to play this game without buying a Saturn is criminal.
