I hate it when I see a game trending on Twitter for no discernable reason. If a trailer’s just dropped, sure, people will probably have opinions. If the game 𝔉is coming out very soon and people are really excited to see news about it, that’s fine too. But otherwise, seeing a game trending is a sure sign of discourse right behind the curtain. Finding out why everybody is mad about a game that hasn’t even been released yet usually sends me into a fit of despair at the state of modern fandom discourse.
On a related note, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 was trending recently. Hellblade 2 doesn’t come out for a month and a half. Unfortunately, yes, there is discourse, and yes, it’s stupid. Worse, it’s being used to fuel a longstanding 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:console war between Xbox and PlayStation, one that Xbox boss Phil Spencer himself s🅰aid is a “social construct”.

Stellar Blad🍨e Doesn’t Understand What Made Nier🔥 Automata A Masterpiece
Shift Up's character action game is taking clear 🍸inspiration from Yoko Taro's masterpiece, but is it doing anything more?
So, what are people mad about this time? For one, people aren’t happy that Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 hasn’t seemed to have had any significant marketing push. People with tinfoil hats (who I’m notဣ going to link to because some are obviously engagement baiting) are saying that the lack of marketing for the Xbox exclusive proves that the game has already been written off by the company. That’s ridiculous, considering they pushed Redfall plenty, and that one was a certified stinker.
Hellblade 2 has twice appeared at The Game Awards and only recently had a new commercial highlighting the realism of🅘 its character models.
Shortly after most of those tweets were made, surprise previews dropped on a handful of major gaming sites🐻 lauding the game’s story, improved combat, and impressive acting. While previews aren’t (and shouldn&rsq🐓uo;t be) considered marketing, positive previews often serve as excellent marketing in their own rights since they tell players that, yes, the game is good.
An even stranger thing I’ve noticed about the conversation around this game is how it’s being compared to Stellar Blade, an upcoming PS5 exclusive that has drawn a lot of attention for how its fans posture that its 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:very hot woman protagonist is some sort of win for conservative gamers, smacking down woke 🅠journaliౠsts who hate hot girls by having a protagonist with curves. It doesn’t look like the kind of game I generally enjoy, but to e🐻ach their own.
Like many people, I love hot girls. I just think it’s weird that Eve is hot without seeming to recognise that she&rsquoꦏ;s hot. Every hot girl I’ve ever met knows she’s hot and acts like it, which is why they’re fun in the first plac🍨e. Where is her personality, damn it?
Online, people are inexplicably pitting the two games against each other, not because they have any ostensible similarities in content, style, or story. It’s mostly because they’re coming out at around the same time on ‘opposing sides’ of the console war, and they both star women. While the majority of players aren’t being weirdly misogynistic about it – I’ve only seen one tweet that included a 🧜picture of Eve’s booty – it still seems like a completely pointles❀s discussion.
There is no competition here. Plenty of people will play and enjoy both games, as they should, because the console war isn’t real. Brands don’t need loyalty, they’re already taking your money. Unless the CEOs of those companies are personally giving you a little forehead kiss every time you have a bad day, there is no reason for you to be fighting pretend internet battles for them that are, in the end, leading to wors𓆏e outcomes for the people making those games you claim to love so much.
