Square Enix's 2018 conclusion to the rebooted Tomb Raider series was met with varying reviews. Some people loved it whilst others are already calling for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a revamp of the original series. Whether it was loved or hated, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Shadow Of The Tomb Raider definitely gave players a look into the more morally questi🦄onable side of cultural icon Lara Croft.

The game sees Lara venturing into the lost city of Paititi to, as usual, stop Trinity from bringing about the end of the world, no thanks to our protagonist herself, who has become obsessed with stopping her long-time enemies regardless of the consequences. There are plenty of hidden tombs, underwater challenges, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:hidden and mind-boggling puzzles, and up-front co📖mbat that will make Tomb Raider fans feel right at home. Still, as good (or not) as the gameplay and story may be, there are some aspects that leave ever🥃y player scratching their heads.

10 🍌 Lara Speaking To Locals

Lara Conversing With Man

Coming straight in with one of the most obvious things that pretty much makes no sense: Lara being able to speak to locals. Every single character Lara comes across can, apparently, speak perfect English. Or, if players choose to have NPC's speak in their native tongue, at the very least they can understand Lara's English.

This seems just about believable when she's in more populated areas but starts to get a little questionable when she encounters a long-lost ancient tribe that can apparently converse in modern-day English despite living in a hidden city sequestered from society. Still, talking to locals in Shadow of the Tomb Raider is one of the only ways you can gain access 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:to multiple side missions so it's not all bad news.

9 ಌ Is Trinity Still Relevant?

Dominguez from Shadow of the Tomb Raider

There's no denying that Dominguez is a pretty cool villain; he has an interesting backstory and toes the line between under🌸standable and outright evil. That being said—is Trinity still as releva𒁏nt? In Shadow of the Tomb Raider honestly, at times, it feels a little bit like they're shoehorned in as the bad guys because that's what players know from the first two games.

Trinity, at this point, feels like a way to tie the three games together (outside of Lara, of course), give her a chance for elaborate 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:or stealthy kills and... that's about it.

8 𝐆 Surviving THA🐭T Plane Crash

plane crash from Shadow of the Tomb Raider

Obviously, there's a certain level of suspension of disbelief employed when playing a game, and the Tomb Raider series is no different. From surviving Jaguar attacks, falls from great heights and several bullets or arrows—having regenerating health is sort of a given. The plane crash towards the start of the game, however, arguably pushes this a little too far. The plane quite literally splits in half and crash lands in the middle of a jungle... only for all three passengersꦑ to make it out alive—n꧒ot only alive but without any real injuries. Apparently, seatbelts really do save lives!

7 Lara's Attitude 💎Problem 🥀

Lara Lifting Up Mask

Lara's gone through a lot of changes over the course of the Tomb Raider timeline and, not just changes, but she's just generally been through a lot in the reboot series. It's actually pretty interesting to watch her go from a nervous, emotional wreck after heꦬr first kill in the first game to a hardened killer in Shadow. That said, she does seem to have somewhat of an attitude in this game that errs on making her unlikeable for no discernable reason.

She snaps at Jonah, d⛎oes what she likes without thinking of the consequences (the whole basis for this third game, really), and at times can just seem generally obnoxious ☂for no real rhyme or reason at all.

6 Who Needs Grav▨ity?

Lara Croft Jumping Onto Ledge

Again: obviously not every part of gameplay is going to be shockingly realistic or it just wouldn't work. But the jumps that Lara continually makes in this game are truly something to behold. There are many side quests, tasks, and challenges that require Lara to jump from one side of a room/cave/ruin to another but, at times, it really looks more like she's flying through the air rather than jumping. It almost feels like you should be 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:winning an achievement for the longest jump at several points ﷽throughout the game.

5 S♋torage? No Problem

Lara Croft Holding A Gun

Through the game Lara picks up a lot of different skills, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:a lot of different weapons, and various artifacts that she occasionally interacts with. She whips out her camera, forages plants and trees for resources, and she has various items of climbing gear and other equipment. Of course, all of this is needed within the game, but the real question is where is she keeping it all? There's no bag to be seen and despite her handy belt of ▨gadgets, there's no storage in sight.

4 Questionable Trust ꦰ

Lara Stood With Jonah And Others In Paititi

Lara finds Paititi quite by accident and, whilst she does help to free Etzli as her first interaction; they all seem to trust her without too many questions. Sure, she has to prove herself before they re♐veal all of their secrets, but they let her into the city and show her around without really questioning her about her motives—they just seem to take her at her word with very little proof.

This seems even more relevant later on when an ancient cult-like group apparently decides to trust her after a very brief conversa🌄tion. Or when random citizens of Paititi send her off to solve puzzles and side missions. Clearly, everyone in Paititi is just an excellent judge of character!

3 What's The Motive🌼? 𓆉

Dominguez Holding Dagger

As already discussed, Dominguez is pretty interesting as the anജtagonist. He has an interesting backstory in Paititi and, afꦦter you find out he's responsible for Lara's dad's death, it's pretty easy to hate him. That being said; it's kind of hard to work out what his motives are, exactly.

He wants the best for Paititi but if that was what he truly wanted then he'd surely be on the side of Lara and Crimson Fire. He causes a whole lot of destruction and mayhem for someone who supposedly wants to help his home city. He's interesting but it's hard to work out what it is exactly he's after.

2 ⛄ The Ending

Lara Ready To Be Sacrificed

By far the most confusing thing about Shadow Of The Tomb Raider is the ending. We're led to believe that Lara represents Kukulkan and that she must be sacrificed to put an end to the apocalyptic events she launched into action in the first place. It's a nice full-circle moment and players are left wondering how the hell she's going to survive it. Lara seems to embrace her fate in an intense moment before Crimson Fire strikes her with the Key o꧃f Chak Chel.

Then the game cuts to t🐼wo days later and Lara is perfectly fine and joking around with Jonah as usual. There's no real explanation as to what happened, why she survived, or what the immediate consequences of her sacrifice were. What happened to Crimson Fire and the Yaaxil? Did Lara sacrifice anything at all? Why did it seem like such an intense, life-or-death moment? Frankly, the ending leaves players with more questions than answers.

1 A𒉰 Lacklu𒊎ster Plotline

Tsunami Floods Destroying Town

One of the game's main plot devices is Lara accidentally kickstarting the apocalypse. It could have been a pretty interesting thing to develop but the game seems to fall somewhat short. The apocalypse is awkwardly shoehorned in to move the plot forward and isn't really discussed in-depth the way you'd think the end of the world might be—especially if you're the reason for it. The reasoning and the execution of the whole cataclysmic-events-signaling-the-end-of-the-world thing fall a little flat in Shadow Of The Tomb Raider and may leave players wondering what it really has to do with, well, anything.
