The Dragons soon found themselves down 0-2, but didn't let that deter them from blowing the doors off during the second half of the match. The DPS duo of Dding and Lip caught fire and proved just how much depth Shanghai has at the position as two world-stars (Fleta and Diem) sat out the match. It was a gutsy comeback against an extremely talented NYXL team that solidified the Dragons at the top right alongside the Philadelphia Fusion.
Those two map losses against New York added up to only six total map losses for the Dragons through their first ten matches. Only the Chengdu Hunters have handed the Dragons not only their only map losses but their only match loss as well. Since that loss, the Dragons have gone on a tear, beating every team 3-0 (aside from New York and a 3-1 over Chengdu) and separated themselves from the rest of the teams in the Asia region. They sit only behind the Fusion in the overall sꦯtandings, but that factors in the extra win Philadelphia has from playing 11 matches. Who knows when that match will happen because of the regional online play the league had to implement, but when it does, it will be something truly amazing to watch.
The Shanghai Dragons are the best success story in all of the Overwatch League. They showed promise in 2019 but have taken their play to the next level this year after making a lot of impressive signings of 🦋proven talent and rookies hoping to leave their mark. The resurgence of Fearless at main-tank for the Dragons is also an incredibly heart-warming success story. The Dragons have always been a team to root for because 🦋of their heart, but now they coupled that with the talent and they look unstoppable.
