Shantae 5 now has an official title, plus new details regarding the game have been revealed. Shantae 5 was originally announced in March, and will be the newest game in the series since Shantae: Half-Genie Hero in 2016.
The series originally began in 2002, on the Game Boy Color. While not receiving too much recognition at the time, the franchise would rise to greater prominence with its sequels. The Shantae series is known for its unique, Arabian-like setting, its quality level design, and of course the dancing transformations of Shantae herself. Shantae has since become one of the most well-known indie characters in the video game medium, even appearing as a Spirit in 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. WayForward, the developer behind the Shantae series, has announced the official title for the fifth game: Shantae and the Seven Sirens. The game is going to feature a brand new story, and new gameplay additions, including a "collectible card system." Check out WayForward's announcement below.
"Shantae and the Seven Sirens sends the belly-dancing, hair-whipping, half-genie hero to a tropical island where Shantae and her friends encounter other Half-Genie allies, but they soon learn there’s trouble in paradise. As Shantae gets caught up in the island’s sinister secrets, she’ll use all-new dance abilities and instant-transformation Fusion Magic to explore the nonlinear, interconnected world where she’ll visit multiple towns, overcome treacherous labyrinths, and battle dastardly bosses."
According to WayForward, the new collectible card system allows players to "augment" Shantae's abilities to suit one's play style. In addition to this, WayForward promises "animated TV-style cutscenes." Fans were already given a look at the from the upcoming game, which was animated by Studio TRIGGER. If the cutscenes look anything like that, fans are in for a treat. Finally, those who will be playing the game on 4K devices will be able to enjoy "4K-resolution hand-painted visuals." This is likely going to be the be♌st-looking game in the series.
Although no footage for Shantae and the Seven Sirens has been released, fans can begin to presume how the game will be played based on these new details. The game appears to be more like Shantae and the Pirate's Curse, and less like Shantae: Half-Genie Hero. Pirate's Curse was played with nonlinear, interconnected areas as well. Meanwhile, Half-Genie Hero was much more level-based, with clear beginnings and endings. Those who enjoy Metroidvania games should have something to look forwa🅘rd to here.
Unfortunately, WayFoward did not provide a release date for Shantae and the Seven Sirens. However, in the developer's original announcement from March, it stated the title was coming later this year. The game will b🔥e released for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Apple Arcade.
