Shin Megami Tensei: 10 Weirdest D🔥emon꧂s in the Series

Shin Megami Tensei has its fair share of strange going on, but these demons really push ﷽the boundaries of weirdness.

As such, you'll hit upon A Goddess In Training rather early so long as you return to the Tokyo D♑iet Building shortly after making yoꦕur way back to the "real" world for the first time. If you're hoping to clear this sub-quest ASAP, we've got some tips on how to give Artemis the pep talk she needs.

How To Start "A Goddess In Training"

The Tokyo Diet Building in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance

Initiating "A Goddess in Training" is a little awkward. It's straightforward, but... a little awkward. After all, since it was originally a DLC quest, its suggested level is a fair bit higher than what you're likely to be when it's first available.

After reaching Bethel Medical Research Lab in the story - this happens shortly after finishing the Minato region's main content - return to the Tokyo Diet Building where all that stuff came to a close.

Meeting The Researchers

Here, you will find several researchers hanging around, including a head researcher toward the front entrance/exit who will tell you about the various requests. Each of these is a previously-DLC quest, and "A Goddess in Training" numbers among them.

Chat with the researchers to pick up the quests. The others are even higher in level, but "A Goddess in Training" will likely be doable for you around the time you complete the next region, Shinagawa.

How To Beat Quetzalcoatl

Quetzalcoatl's stats screen in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance

Your first order of business is simple: head over near Tokyo Tower, where the quest marker will appear on your map. Here, you'll meet Artemis, the principle protagonist of this little side a✃dventure.

After introductions are behind you, you'll be sent to battle Quetzalcoatl, who is near the Tokyo Diet Building. Consider Quetzalcoatl a warm-up for the main event to come.

At level 34, Quetzalcoatl will be a tough customer if you're attempting "A Goddess in Training" before getting plenty of levels in over in Shinagawa. We want to r👍eiterate this: try your luck afterward instead.

Quetzalcoatl's innate skill, Breath of Abundance, boosts critical hit race for force-type attacks. It just so happens that Quetzalcoatl comes packing a big one: Zanma, a medium-damage force attack.

Best to treat this as if it will always be a crit, so have someone around for healing.

Maragion, an all-target fire spell, will be bolstered by the same +4 affinity boost that Zanma has. Avoid bringing anyone along who is weak to either force or fire, and make the most of any electric-based attacks in your arsenal to take advantage of the monꦅster's sole weakness.

The Aogami Type-4 husk, which can be found in Shinagawa, can teach the Nahobino the exclusive Ruinous Thunder move which deals heavy electric damage.

This was our main method of ripping through its defenses. Giving it an Omagotoki crit boost tore sev🌠eral hu﷽ndred HP off of Quetzalcoatl's health per round.

How To Beat Artemis

Artemis in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance

Report your results to Artemis. In a not-so-shocking twist, Artemis requests a battle. You can postpone it until you've healed up and saved, so make sure to do so.

Artemis is no slouch. While her innate skill, Impenetrable Purity, is only a threat if you're relying upon piercing skills, her unique skills, Astral Saintstrike and Somersault, are hard-hitting.

Astral Saintstrike hits random foes 15 times - yes, indeed, 15 times. To say the least, you'll need to avoid bringing anyone along who is weak to physical, especially since it blends smoothly with Somersault's single-hit, two-stage defense-lowering ailment.

The Nahobino prepares a Fire Breath attack against Artemis in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance

Artemis has Mabufula and Zionga to cover other potential weaknesses in your party, namely ice and electric. She clocks four resistances: light, dark, ice, and electric.

Her sole weakness is fire, which you can cover not just through the right demons, but by teaching the Nahobino fire skills as well. We also had Yoko Hiromine in our party with Agidyne, though this won't🐠 be possible in Canon of Creation.

We had a pretty swell solution to Mabufula; commit to the special fusion for King Frost ahead of time, as he'll absorb ice. Absorptions reduce enemy turn count, too, so it's frankly a near-OP solution.

Magatsuhi gathers around Artemis in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance

Your best bet is to whittle down Artemis' HP swiftly enough to prevent much usage of Astral Saintstrike. We realize this kind of goes without saying, but it's especially poignant here, as Artemis' HP isn't particularly high, so a full-scale assault should🌊 quickly break her.

If two demons of Dark/Chaos alignment are in your party (this includes King Frost!), they can use Torrent of Chaos, a Magatsuhi skill which deals severe Almighty damage with a chance of instakill. A level 41 K🔯ing Frost hit for nearly 800 points of damage with this!

Once Artemis goes down, she learns a valuable lesson, and the episode ends with a montage of her training. (Kidding.) She does learn a lesson, though, and more importantly, she joins the team!
