Lahmu, the tentacled Deity himself, is more than a match for any would-be usurper who underestimates him. Coming in with more p♉hases than any other boss the game has thrown at you this far, Lahmu is a test🐻 of strength, as well as endurance.

Lahmu’s Potentials, Attacks, And Resistances

Potentials

Tentacles Phase

First Form

Second Form

Lahmu can attack from a variety of angles which seriously limits which demons you can take with you unless you are willing to invest in some Dampers or have demons on permanent barrier duty.

Thankfully, none of his Potentials are as high as, say, Nuwa. Despite that, you still need to keep an eye on that Dark magic, as Mudo can straight up end Nahobino if you are not packing the right stats.

Attacks

First Form

Lahmu’s first phase, whilst dangerous, is very limited in what it can do against a group. Every attack is single target, which means you can manipulate him with Taunt demons and lay into him f♓reely.

Second Form

Lahmu’s second form is much more dangerous than his initial outing. Not only does he have access to Heavy-damage variants of spells, but he is also packing multitarget damage in spades.

Don’t underestimate the chaos Silt of Ruin can cause either. Thankfully, Purple Smoke only attacks one target, which limits his combo potential.

Weaknesses

Tentacles and First Form

Lahmu’s resistances are not that varied. He only resists one element, is immune to another, and is weak to two. This gives you plenty of avenues to launch your offensive. Because he is lacking general resistances, you can deal serious damage without just exploiting Force or Light.

Second Form

Lahmu’s second form is more resistant than his first form, and his weaknesses have changed. This makes building a team to tackle Lahmu trickier, so have backups in your stock who can be deployed later in the fight.

Recommended Party Setup

As with all boss fights, there is no set-in-stone party setup. What you want to look out for, however, are demons that can handle Lahmu in all phases. Quetzalcoatl is a star in this regard as it can effectively target Force and Fire weaknesses.

Outside of this, you want party members who are not weak to Dark attacks. Complete immuni𝔍ty and resistance to Dark is nice, but not a requirement.

If you are planning on bringing a demon weak t🐼o Dark, then remember to bring Dampers or 𒅌have a demon who can cast a Dark Block.

Other demons worth considering are Baphomet due to his Dark resistance and built-in Fire proficiency and Muu Shuwuu for her potent Force attacks and resistances.

A potent support piece would be Parvati who does not only have favourable resistances, but is immune to Confusion, giving you a demon who can🅺 complet𝔍ely ignore Tentarafoo +3.

Because Lahmu’s fight is such a lengthy affair, there is a real risk you will run out of mana before you can finish him off. Because of this, you will want plenty of demons at your disposal to sub in - or pockets full of Chakra Drops.

Remember that whilst Lahmu is not weak to Physical damage, Physical damage can be staggeringly effective in this fight — especially when paired with Charge. Many physical attacks a🅘lso apply debuffs, such as lowering Lahmu’s Defence, Accuracy, and Damage.

Preparing For Battle

When it comes to Essence Fusion, you are looking for any demon that is completely immune to one of Lahmu’s attacks, whilst not being weak to any of them. Baphomet is a good choice, as he is immune to Dark damage.

When it comes to abilities, you have plenty of options. For a more magical build, just run Fire, Force/Light attacks. This will get you pretty darn far and give you a second Quetzalcoa🐻tl — essentially.

Battle Strategy

Tentacles Naturally, this is the easiest form of the fight. You are unable to strike Lahmu until all of his tentacles are dealt with. Thankfully they share all the same weaknesses Lahmu does, so you won’t need a tentacle-specific party. That being said, it wouldn’t hurt to have some AoE Force/Light users specifically f෴or this phase.

First Form

Because Lahmu’s weaknesses don’t change i๊n this fight, you could keep your party from the Tentacle phase.

You will gain EXP after defeat🐼ing this form, so if Demons are close to levelling up, you ca🌠n opt to not use Chakra Drops before the Second Form.

Failing that, chug some drops just before this fight ends if needed — especially for demons like Quetzal𒆙coatl.

Having a Demon with Taunt in this phase will trivialise the encounter, as Lahmu will be compell൲ed to throw the majority of hi✨s attacks into one demon. This makes exploiting his magic much easier, and it makes healing your party a breeze.

Second Form

You want to pull out everything for this phase. Pop your Magatsuhi - Omagatoki: Critical. This will give you eight activations, which you can 🍬use to deal some serious damage.

Remember, Lahmu is weak to Fire in this phase, so swap your party accordꦑingly.

Finally, in this phase, you may want to debuff Lahmu. Because his earlierꦿ phases are not massively threatening, saving mana for hཧis Second Form, and burning it now, is a solid plan.

Ideally, you will want to apply it with a Physical attack, but pure debuffing spells, like Sukunda, work fine too.

Battling Lahmu In Canon Of Vengeance

In Canon of Vengeance, the new story path added as an alternative in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, you'll still face off against the first Lahmu, but Yoko and Tao will join as guest battle characters.

This changes things considerably - it means if you have them in your active party, you can take advantage of up to three item-users at an earlier point in the game than when the Knowledge of Tools Miracle grants such utility to your demons.

Tao is particularly helpful, since Lahmu's light weakness can be taken advantage of in full.
