Brand new Pokémon, new Team Rocket Special Re🍸search tasks, a n𒊎ew shadow legendary, and even a shiny Riolu are all to hit the game in celebration of the February holiday.

Befo🍒re the Valentine's Day event, Niantic is plan🅘ning a Sinnoh region celebration event for the weekend of February 8th, where 7km eggs will hatch Pokémon exclusive to the Sinnoh region. Pokémon that can be hatched include Budew, Combee, Mantyke, Hippopotas, Bronzor Gible, and Riolu. Not only that, but there will also be a chance that players will hatch a shiny Riolu or a shiny Hippotas.

On top of this, new February Team Rocket special research tasks will give players a chance to🔴 capture a shadow Raikou once they defeat Giovanni, and the legen🍸dary generation five Pokémon, Tornadus, will be introduced to the game for the very first time via five star raids. Also, February weekly research breakthrough encounters will include Woobat, with extra Woobat candy given to players that catch it.

When the Valentine's Day event does roll around beginning on February 14th, pink Pokémon will appear more often in the wild, in eggs, field research encounters, and in raids, similar to Valentine's Day events of the past. Also, two new Pokémon, Audino and Alomomola, will be available in Pokémon GO for the very first time.

It doesn't end there. The weekend after Valentine's Day, Pokémon GO will host yet another event to celebrate friendship. That's right, a special friendship weekend event is coming as well, where friendship levels will increase faster, trade candy will double, stardust𝓡 costs will be cut in half, the number of gifts you can open will be increased to 40, and the number of gifts you can hold in your inventory will be increased to 20.

So it's safe to say that Niantic has some big plans for Pokémon GO in February. Events like these are a big reason why the game has remained so popular since its Summer 20👍16 release, and the drawn out release of new Pokémon and new shinies is sure to bring more and more players back to the game.
