The developers of  have finally announced their next project, as Yacht Club Games has revealed that it will be publishing  - an action🌠 platformer that will be released for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Steam and Xbox One in the futur🐽e.

Yacht Club Games is the developer best-known for Shovel Knight, which is a game that emulated the classic 8-bit platformers of the past. If Shovel Knight was meant to be a modern take on DuckTales, then their latest game, Cyber Shadow, is going to be their Ninja Gaiden.

Cyber Shadow is an action platformer that is set in a world that has been overrun by robots. The player controls a ninja who is trying to save the surviving members of their clan from the machines, which will involve slicing through hordes of enemy robots and defeating over a dozen different boss monsters. It's clear from the trailer that Cyber Shadow is going to be a much faster game than Shovel Knight and will include larger ar﷽e🐲as for the players to explore.

The most obvious inspiration for the aesthetic of Cyber Shadow is the 8-bit Ninja Gaiden games, but there are also hints of the dark tone of Batman game for the NES, the giant boss monsters from the Contra games, and the robot grunts from the Mega Man series in there.

Cyber Shadow is actually being developed by Aarne “MekaSkull” Hunziker of Mechanical Head Studios, who has been working on the game for the past decade. Yacht Club Games has spent the past year helping Hunziker polish the game and will be involved with a lot of the business aspects of Cyber Shadow's release, but it also stated on that they were involved with the design choices for the title, where they used their experience from working on Shovel Knight to help Hunziker with his work.

Shovel Knight proved that there is still an audience for retro platformers in the current video game market and Cyber Shadow seems like it will help to modernize the Ninja Gaiden-style of game in the same way.

Cyber Shadow will be released for Nintendo Switch🍬, PlayStation 4, Steam, and Xbox One in the future.
