During last night's State of Play, Konami announced and released Silent Hill: The Short Messa🧜ge, a free-to-play singleplayer game. It's since come to light that Pyramid Head creator Masahiro Ito and long-time composer Akira Yamaoka were involved in its development.
The last 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Silent Hill-related project Yamaoka composed was actually the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dead by Daylight chapter in 2020, four years ago. He's also working on spiritual successor Slitterhead and the Silent Hill 2 remake.
Ito worked as the creature designer for The Short Message, fitting since he designed some of the series' most iconic monsters. Aside from the obvious, Pyramid Head, he's the brains behind the mannequins, abstract daddies, and bubble head nurses to name a few. Yamaoka, meanwhile, has worked as a composer for the series since its debut in 1999, but given its lengthy hiatus, he hasn't been involved in a Silent Hill game in 12 years.
True to Ito's style, the monster in Short Message is a twisted, otherworldly humanoid character with flowers bound around their face, obscuring their identity. This design leaked back in 2020 with Ito's name penned in the corner, so we've known about his involvement for a while now.
When asked if this is the only monster in the game, Ito responded, "Yeah, only one creature", as The Short Message appears to be a PT-style demo rather than a fully-fledged Silent Hill outing. That being said, it's not the only new game in the series that the two have worked on as of late.
Yamaoka and Ito are both returning for the Silent Hill 2 remake at Bloober Team, something Ito talked about ꦯlast year when 𒁃it was finally unveiled.
Ito revealed that he spoke to Bloober Team at length about some of the ideas he'd had over the years on how he could improve the original game's designs. The example he shared was 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the iconic bubble head nurses, wh🍌o, as fans were quick to point out, now wear black stockings.
"As to the nurse pic Bloober released," Ito tweeted. "It's one of the concept arts. I made her wear the stockings with the colour because it was pointed out that the original nurse in Silent Hill 2 exposed her skin too much and I wanted to mean, 'This is a remake.' Also because of game design."
