In the vanilla (mod-free) game, inactive families, townies, and Sims are static; nothing happens unless the player is actively controlling them. All of that changes with . It's still in open beta, so it's totally possib༒le that new features will be added, tweaked, or changed. For now, though, here are a few features to look forward to in The 🅘Sims 2's newest Story Progression mod.

8 🌠 ♓ Custom Pie Menu

Pie Menu with Story Progression options

A custom Story Progression pie menu makes it easy to control ho🤡w the mod affects individual Sims, families, or neighborhoods. By default, Story Progression will affect all Sims and families in the played neighborhood. To change these settings, click on any Sim and select "Story Progression," then select the option to turn it on or off for ཧthat Sim, family, or neighborhood. The menu also toggles some of the mod's specific features—like off-screen jobs or relationships—on or off, but it can't change every setting. To do that, players can always delete any unwanted modules from the mods folder.

7 🐈 Time S🧔ynchronization (Required)

This is the only module so far that is absolutely required to run the mod, and it's one that players won't want to miss. With Story Progression installed, time will sync up across all households in 💞the played neighborhood.

This means that, whatever time it is when leaving, that time will stay the same when playing another. This is also great for players who visit a lot oꦜf community lots; no more heading𒆙 out in the morning and exhausting your Sims, only to get home in the "morning" (again) with super low needs.

6 Relationships (Optional) 🦂

Sims will build autonomously, and Sims in romantic relationships can fall in love, get engaged, or get married. A recent update also made it so that Sims will only get engaged to Sims that they are already romantically involved with, so players can set things up to help Story Progression work in their favor. Be caref𓆉ul, though—relationships can also go sour, and it's also possible for Sims to break up, or even get divorced.

5 🐼 Pregnancies (Op💟tional)

Female Sims with male partners can Try For Baby, get pregnaღnt, and give birth autonomously. The game will also name the൲ new babies, but players can rename babies with cheats, mods, or SimPE if they wish.

Notifications will pop up when Sims get pregnant and after they give birth, but players will have to play a family themselves to see their baby's gender. Male Sims can also have alien pregnancies while being abducted by aliens, so watch out🅠 for surprise supernatural babies.

4 💯 Jo🍎bs And Careers (Optional)

At 2 PM every in-game day, the mod will scan for unemployed Sims and assign the♑m jobs, based on their interests and personalities. Already employed Sims won't ever be assigned new jobs (nor will they quit) but they can progress and achieve promotions in their careers. For players with the Open for Business expansion pack, the mod seems to count Sims who run businesses (at home or on community lots) as unemployed, so it may be a good idea to pause Story Progression for those Sims.

3 𝔍 University (Optional)ไ

Sims can also enroll in and graduate from university without the player's intervention. They'll choos🅷e majors too, which work like jobs iꦿn that Sims will select majors depending on their personalities and interests.

This is great for players who prefer not to play through university, or hate the headache of 🎐choosing evꦺeryone's majors. If players ever don't like a mod-chosen major, they're easy to change. Just make sure that the student in question hasn't finished sophomore year!

2 Aging (Optional) 🧜

Inactive Sims (including townies) age over time. Sims of all ages—from babies to elders—will age, so players should make sure to keep track of the time if they don't want to miss anyone's birthday. It's also a good idea to keep an eye on elder Sims, because when their lifespans end, they'll die automatically🍬 from old age. Right now, it 𝔉looks like players get notifications when Sims die, but not when they age up, but this might change in the future.

1 𒈔 Aspiration🍷s (Optional)

Aspiration levels for inactive Sims will now fluctuate, presumably ranging all the way from red to platinum. It's not known yet whether Sims can ach💧ieve Lifetime Wishes or go into Aspiration Failure when inactive, but given that Sims can have babies, go to (and graduate from) university, get jobs, and break up, it seems like both scenarios could be possible! Curious players can always check their Sims' memories, to see if anything interesting happened while they were away.
