10 Wi꧅sh: Wear Normal C🐻lothes
First up is a somewhat trivial thing that the mermaids of Island Living can't d🌟o: wear normal cloth🌳ing. Mermaid sims, while in their mermaid form, are only capable of having swimwear equipped, not any other clothes.
While they can have regular clothes in human form, there is no option to keep them when transforming. This limitation isn't the worst as The Sims 4 does have a wide range of nice swimsuits for sims to wea꧟r, but it woꦐuld still be nice (or at the very least, amusing) to see a mermaid wearing a ball gown.
9 Cool: Turn Into A Mermaid 🦄
Perhaps the most obviously awesome thing that a mermaid sim can do Island Living is transform into a mermaid! Once a sim becomes a𝐆 mermaid, any time they make contact with water will see them shed their no💃rmal human legs in exchange for a beautiful tail.
Mermaids also have a set of new customization options in Create a Sim, with players able to edit their tails, upper body wear, eyes, and even their teeth. And this is only just scratching the surface of what mermaids are capable of in Island Living.
8 Wish: Mer-ki꧋ds 🧸
Alt♌hough sims can be mermaids at any sꦦtage of life, it's not always readily apparent. Kids and toddlers can technically be mermaids, but the most defining attribute will be absent: their tail. Mermaid children, when entering the water, will not sprout the gorgeous tail boasted by their older counterparts.
This means that anyone hoping to see a proper mer-family of sims in Island Living is sadly out of luck. Perhaps in a later update or another game, this will become an option, but for now, the youth of The Sims 4 are mermaids in name only.
7 ꧙ 🦹 Cool: Mermaid's Kiss
Romance in The Sims, as in life, takes work. You can’t just smash two different sims together and expect them to kiss – unless one of them is a mermaid, that is. The mermaids of Island Living have a whole host of supernatural powers, including the M𒁏ermaid's Kiss ability.
This allows them to smooch whoever they wish, without taking the time to build up a romantic bond. Additionally, the sim th🍨ey kiss will gain Aquatic Breath, allowing them to hold their breath for longer and therefore dive deeper underwater.
6 🍸 Wish: Transform On Command
Although turning into a mermaid is definitely cool, sometimes you might just want to see wha♔t your sim looks like normally. Perhaps they're just taking a bath or going for a quick dip in the water – nothing too involved.
The mermaid transformation isn't optional, unfortunately. No matter what, when a mer-sim goes into water of any sort, be it sea or tub, they will grow a tail. The only way to stop this from happening is to have your mermaid eat two Mermadic Kelps, which will permanently turn𝔉 them back into a human.
5 🌠 Cool: Siren's Call 💝
One of the darker power available to mermaids in Island Living is not accessible to sims who have the good trait. It's the Siren's Call, and it lets mermaids act out the tales of Ancient Greece wherᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚe sirens lured sailors to crash their ships on the rocks.
While nothing that dramatic happens in the game, a mermaid using Siren's Call can lure a normal sim into the ocean and then pull them down into the m🌃urky dep🅘ths. Doing this can kill the sim in question, though mermaids refill all motives when they perform it.
4 🃏 🍬 Wish: Skill Development
One of the most fascinating aspects of The Sims series is the skills your sims obtain as they go about living their lives. Performing certain actions, reading specific books, and taking part in♛ activities can al♓l help to increase a sim's skills.
It would be interesting, then, if mermaid skills followed this same pattern, with new mꦕermaids having a limited set of abilities that grew stronger over time and with use. This is not the case, however – mermaids have all their skills and powers from 🔯the get-go, with no chance of growing or developing them in any way.
3 🌄 Cool: Siren's Lullaby
Another one of the mermaid powers introduced in Island Living is the Si𒊎ren's Lullaby, a powerful melody with a variety of different effects. Mermaids can direct their music at any other sim, and cause them to feel a particular way depending on the song selected.
The options are: Aegean's Question, to make the sim tense; Charmer's Lullaby, to make the sim flirty; Inspiring Berceuse, to make the sim🐷 inspired; and N🍌ight's Requiem, to make the sim sad. These songs are available to all mermaids, regardless of their good or evil traits.
2 💞 Wish: Use Ladders
Our final wish is for something that honestly makes quite a bit of sense but is still something of a nuisance regardless. Mermaids in Island Living cannot use ladders.
This seems pretty logical – they don't have legs, after all, so one can imagine how climbing up a ladder wou🧸ld prove challenging at the very least – but it's still an annoyance. This doesn't limit mermaid sims' abilities to enter water, as they can always just d𒊎ive right on in, but it does make it a little more difficult when trying to exit.
1 💝 Cool:🅘 Talk To Sea Creatures
Finally, mermaids have a variety of abilities that allow them to commune with sea creatures big and small. They can passively speak with fish while in the water🅘, filling up their social need as they do. Additionally, they have the ability to summon dolphins to their position, including any dolphins that the mermaid happens to be friends with.
For mermaids of a more sinister leaning, they can also use 🐟the power Summon Ocean Threat, which will bring forth a dark and terrifying creature to dra🔯g other sims into the ocean deep – or you can just talk to fish. Your choice!
