As one of the most commonly occurring enemies in Skyrim, the player is more likely to see a draugr in their adventures than most other creatures, particularly while 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:exploring the various ruins that dot the lan⛎dscape. While it's easy to pass these creatures off as si♑mple zombies, there's a lot more to the draugr than meets the eye.
Influenced by 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Norse mythology, like many other aspects of the Nords of The Elder Scrolls, the draugr have only appeared in the series when the player is able to explore Skyrim or some region that is close to it. Examples include 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Solstheim in the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Morrowind expansion Bloodmoon or the Skyrim expansion for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Elder Scrolls Online.
9 𒈔 They Are Reanimat♛ed To Care For Their Dungeons
At first glance, it seems that the draugr that attack the player whenever they enter a dungeon are simply there to create an obstacle and try to drive trespassers out of their home. However, it is revealed through some investigations that can be found in a book (entitled Amongst the Draugr) that the draugr have a set daily routine where they are reanimated in order to clean and maintain the tomb before resting to repeat the process infinitely. This same book ♊also claims that the draugr can be approached without drawing out their violent defensiveness, though it took the author a full seven months before they would simply ignore her and go about their duties.
8 The Dragon Claw D👍oors Keep Them Contained
One of the biggest mysteries of Skyrim is why the Dragon Claws, elaborate keys that open very sturdy and durable doors, have the combination engraved on their undersides when it seems as though these doors are designed to keep people out of the tombs. However, it is later revealed that these keys aren't designed to keep people out, their sole purpose is to keep the draugr from escaping. Since the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Last Dragonborn opens several of these during the game, it stands🅠 to reason that a few may have escaped from th💝eir tombs and started to terrorize the locals.
7 A Draugr's Life Force Is What Sustains The Dragon ♎Priests
In many instances where the player can find many draugr roaming a dungeon, there will be a 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dragon Priest of some kind at the end that will present a much greater challenge than the zombies that came before it. While♊ the draugr are there to care for the tomb of the Dragon Priest, this isn't their only function within their tombs.
According to the book Amongst the Draugr, a kind of life force is seen being siphoned off of the draugr and is absorbed by the Dragon Priest, indicating that the only way a Dragon Priest is able to reaඣnimate themselves is when they are surrounded by their servants.
6 𓄧 They Are Unaffect🤪ed By Decapitation
There are a few additional combat mechanics in Skyrim that change up the gameplay at later levels and can up the gore factor by a significant amount. One of these is decapitation, which is a perk that can be unlocked for both the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:One-Handed and Two-Handed skill tree. It allow𒉰s the player to prevent a corpse from being reanimated by taking off their head in order to kill them. However, draugr are apparently immune to this particular effect and will never be able to be decapitated no matter how many times the player tries to initiate it.
5 💛 Draugr Bodies Are Randomized
One of the strangest aspects of a draugr is how their bodies are shown in-game. Unli🃏ke other enemies, which all draw from a similar pool of potential models, a draugr's body is completely randomized, meaning that a group of draugr found in one particular dungeon will look different each time they are respawned. This also means that their bodies will mix between male and female models and can result in a female body having the long, grey beard that is usually seen on male models.
4 Reanimated Draugr Are Slightly Differe🎐nt To 👍Other Reanimated Enemies
Even though they were already undead before being killed, most draugr can be resurrected with the right 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Conjuration spells or 📖abilities, such as Raise Undead or the Ritual Stone. But any eagle-eyed player may notice some🦩thing a little different about a re-reanimated draugr compared to their original design.
When a draugr is encountered in its tomb, its eyes will glow an eerie blue that fades after they are killed, but when they a♈re resurrected again, this glow won't come back and may indicate that the spell to reanimate them in the first place is different from any Conjuration spell the player has access to.
3 🎀 💧 The Mages Will Only Use Ice Spells
While draugr are generally lumbering, reanimated corpses that flail their weapons around wildly, some of them have the ability to use 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Destruction and Conjuration spells to supplement their melee attacks. While they seem to be adept at both of these spells, they will also only use Ice variants of these schools and will never use Fire or Shock spells. This could be because they all used to be Nords and have a natural resistance to that particular spell, but 🀅it could also have something to do with a dragon's natural inclination toward Fire-based shouts.
2 They Only 🍸Wield Two Types Of Weapons 🉐
Draugr, like most enemies in Skyrim, will scale to the player's level an increase in strength in order to keep the challenge of battle fairly consistent even at higher levels. However, despite most other humanoid enemies also scaling up their weapons in this process, a draugr will only ever wield either an Ancient Nordic or Ebony weapon. The latter is locked to particular draugr spawns that can allow the player to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:obtain a powerful weapon at level 1, so long as they can survive the encounter.
1 ✅ Their Armor🥀 Can't Be Looted, But Can Still Be Worn
Aside from their undead nature, a draugr is unique in that, alongside Aela the Huntress, they are the only characters in Skyrim that wear the Ancient Nordic Armor. While fairly weak, this armor also can't be looted from a draugr after they have been killed. However, this armor can be bought from Aela after she has been married or from 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Eorland Grey-Mane after completing the Companions questline. It has the same armor rating as Iron Armor and requires the Daedric Smithing perk to upgrade, making it one of the least us🧸eful armor setsꦓ in the game.
