Elder Scrolls 5: 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Skyrim's story and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:rich lore have continued to capture the public imagination as well as any fantasy book in existence. From being the Dragonborn fated to end 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Alduin the Worldeater to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:ending a bitter civil war, Skyrim is a rough, wondrous world of endle🌌ss adventure and conflict.
Yet a defining feature of Skyrim is its diverse melting pot of races with their own unique faiths. Religion in Skyrim is extremely important, as well as serving as a large part of their identity. Whether you're a Daedra worshipper or believe Talos to 🌼be one of the Divines, Skyrim is a prime example of blending the mystical with the relatable.
15 Nords
Originally from Atmora, the hardy, cold-resistant Nords were once devoted to the Ancient Nordic Pantheon. Entirely made up of animals, the Ancient Nords worshipped sacred creatures from bears to wolves♒ as well as the All-Maker, before giving them up to worship the Aedra.
Notable gods from the Nordic Pantheon include Shor, Kyne, Dibella and Ysmir (or Talos), with Talos's divinity turning into a full-blown civ♎il war between the Imperial꧑s and the Stormcloaks. Like 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Norse mythology, Nordic warriors who meet their end in battle are sent to Sovngarde, which is equivalent to Valhalla; to enter the Hall of Valor, they must battle Tsun to further prove their mettle.
14 Imperials
Natives to Cyrodiil, the Imperials believe in the Eight Divines under Queen Alessia, who mixed Elven and Human gods together. Talos, once th꧂e mortal Tiber Septim, was included and turned the Imperial pantheon in⭕to the Nine Divines.
From Akatosh to Mara, the Nords even took to worshipping the Divines - Talos especially. However, the Aldmeri Dominion's hold on the Imperials caused the Emperor to ban Talos worship in Skyrim, leading to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Ulfric Stormcloak's rebellion in the game.
13 Bretons
The Bretons of High Rock, unlike the Imperials and Nords, were instead worshippers of what they call The Twelve Divines. Although all Eight Divines are included in the latter, Talos is unsurprisingly missing. The additional four gods are Y'ffre; Phynaster; Magnus; Sheor (or Lorkhan).
Unlike the Nordic afterlife, Bretons wholeheartedly believe in the god of death Arkay, taking charge of their souls and conveying them to Aetherius. There, the souls of the departed will be able to be reunited with their loved ones as well as the gods. However, Bretons aren't considered to be overly religious, but they choose to worship the Divines to emphasize their Elven ancestry.
12 Altmer (High El꧋ves🌺)
The Altmeri - or High Elves - are a magically talented race prone to thoughts of racial superiority, which ends up forming the Aldmeri Dominion and the malicious Thalmor. They only worship the Aedra, known in their language as 'ancestor spirits', and they despise all forms of Daedric worship.
To their mind, Lorkhan the Trickster is responsible for causing the Altmeri to lose their immortality. In death, the Altmeri are reunited with their ancestor spirits and return t☂o be among the Aedra, which includes Auri-El; Magnus; Syrabane;♈ and Xarxes to name a few.
11 Bosmer (Wood Elves) 🌄 🐠
Known as the Wood Elves of Valenwood, the Bosmer do worship the Eight (or Nine) Divines, but their main god is Y'ffre the Storyteller. The Bosmer revere him since they consider Y'ffre to be their saviour after the chaotic creation of Mundus. Also, Y'ffre was believed to have mentored the Bosmer on how to survive in the forest.
Aside from Y'ffre, the Bosmer also have a fondness for trickster gods. Baan Dar, a Khajiit god, is one of the trickster deities the Bosmer worship. Of course, the trickster of all tricksters, Lorkhan is also included in the Bosmeri Pantheon. As Wood Elves, the Bosmer include the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Daedric Prince Hircine and his 'Wild Hunt' as part of their religion.
10 ᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚᩚ𒀱ᩚᩚᩚ Dunmer (Dark Elves)
The Dunmer of Morrowind were actually once known as the Chimer, but Azura's rage caused their golden skin to darken and their eyes to redden. Unlike the Altmer, the Dark Elves actually 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:prefer to worship the Daedric Princes. After the fall of the Tribunal and Morrowind's destruction, the Dunmer turned to worship what they call 'The Reclamations' and 'The House of Troubles'.
The Reclamations consist of Azura, Mephala, and Boethiah; The House of Troubles are Malacath, Sheogorath, Molag Bal, and Mehrunes Dagon. Since the Dunmer are known for being assassins, worshipping Daedric Princes like Mephala and🅠 Boethiah are a given. As for Princes like Molag Bal, they believe that the latter serve as trials that all Dunmer must overcome.
9 𝔍 Ancient Falmer (Snow Elves)
One of the saddest tales of any race in Tamriel, the Ancient Falmer - or Snow Elves - were once many in Skyrim, mainly worshipping Auriel. Their pilgrimages to the Chantry of Auriel in the Forgotten Vale attests to their devotion, where Initiates are sent from wayshrine to wayshrine to finally end up before the Arch-Curate. If you're successful, you'll be given 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Auriel's Bow as a reward.
A war with the Nords ended up being the downfall of the Snow Elves. They cut a deal with the Dwemer, who promised safe refuge in return for the Snow Elves blinding themselves. After the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dwemer disappearance, the Snow Elves' rapid physical degeneration began until they transformed into the Falmer. By the end of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:'Touching The Sky' qu🐲est, Gelebor is probably the last living Snow Elf in Skyrim.
8 ꦺ Ayleids (Heartland High Elves)
The Ayleids - or Heartland High Elves - were once the supreme masters of Tamriel. Before Queen Alessia's rebellion, the Ayleids mainly worshipped the Aedra, until they started including certain Daedra during the tail end of the Merethic Era.
For example, the Daedric Prince Meridia is the perfect deity since she represents Light, and the Ayleids consider light to be one of the four main elements. They also revered Auriel, but any other details about the Ayleids' religion are slightly murky after their downfall.
7 🃏 ꦦOrsimer (Orcs)
Unlike the polytheistic religions of most of the other races, Orcs generally focus on one god: the Daedric Prince Malacath. The Daedric Prince of Outcasts is the perfect deity for the Orcs sincꦯe most of the other races fear and despise them.
All Orcs follow 'The Code of Malacath', which are a set of rules that they live by. Essentially, they forbade any Orc from stealing or murdering but made it known that dying in battle is the best thing an Orc could do in honour of Malacath. Upon death, Orcs go to Malacath's realm in Oblivion known as the Ashpit, where they can eat, drink, and fight forever.
6 Dwemer
Interestingly, the lost Dwemer might be the only race in all Tamriel that do not worship a single god, Daedric or otherwise. Once known for their revolutionary craftsmanship and technology, the Dwemer prize rationality above al💛l else♍. In fact, they seem to aim for godhood instead of worshipping one.
But of course, their dreams of becoming gods ended in catastrophic failure. It is thought that Kagrenac's tinkering with the Heart of Lorkhan was what caused the Dwemer's disappearance. It seems that the cost of pursuing godhood is simply too high.
