The Kingdom of Skyrim is a place that holds honour in high regard. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Nords are a stubborn lot, but they're more likely to punch you in the face than resort to subterfuge for the most part. This isn't, however, always the case.

There are a few NPCs out there who will lie through their teeth to a Dragonborn. For some it may be out of shame, for many it's for their own advantage, and a few have extremely sinister reasons to be deceptive. Regardless of their reasons, the truth will come out in the course of their stories. It's enough to make you wonder who else has hidden agendas.

10 ܫ ൲ Arvel The Swift

Skyrim screenshot of NPC Arvel the Swift.

Getting your teeth into the main quest in Skyrim first involves venturing into 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Bleak Falls Barrow. It is inside that you will run into Arvel The Swift, a Dunmer who is in a bit of a jam. He managed to steal the gold dragon claw that acts as the key to the inner barrow but ended up trapped in a spider's web on the way there. He promises to help you get through the gate if you free him from the trap.

This is a lie. Arvel takes off as soon as he's free. Unfortunately for the elf, while he might be fast, he's not that smart, and he doesn't do a good job of checking for traps.

9 𒁃 Calixto Corrium

On passing through the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:graveyard of Windhelm one day, you may come across a grisly sight. Susanna the Wicked, an ironically named waitress 🔯from Candlehearth Hall, has been murdered, and her body left on top of one of the tombs. The guard is already on the scene, as well as a few bystanders.

One of these is Calixto Corrium, a museum owner and lovable eccentric who is terribly upset by the whole thing. In fact, he'll helpfully assist in your inquiries, pointing you in the direction of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the city's court wizard. The actual killer is a lot closer to home. Calixto is playing you the entire time. He was at the scene of Susanna's death alright, but it wasn't as a witness. The best thing you can do is bring him to justice the old-fashioned way.

8 Gulum-Ei

Skyrim screenshot of NPC Gulum-Ei.

Gulum-Ei, or sometimes Gajul-Lei, is a slippery character, and not just because his species is semi-aquatic. He works at the East Empire Company in Solitude, though seems to spend most of his time loitering around the Winking Skeever. You'll be sent to speak to him about some shady property dealing he's been involved in.

If you speak to him, the Argonian will immediately lie that he has nothing to do with it. Getting the truth out of him is a bit like pulling teeth, and even after intimidation or bribery, he is not forthcoming with the name of his client. It will take following him and threatening his life to get any useful information. That's probably why he's usually in public.

7 Mercer Frey 𝓀

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Skyrim's Thieves' Guild isn't what it used to be. it has suffered an unfortunate run of bad luck since their previous leader, Gallus was murdered by his lover, Karliah. The present Guild Master, Mercer Frey does his best to hold things together, but no one knows what's causing the misfortune.

At least, this is what you are told by people who have heard Mercer's side of the story. In truth the man is nothing but a fraud and a traitor. He was the one to murder Gallus, only to frame Karliah and steal an artifact of Nocturnal that he should have been protecting. Good thing you get a chance to show him why there's supposed to be 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:honour amoung thieves.

6 Telrav

Being the hero of Skyrim, you tend to spend quite a lot of your time helping people. It often benefits you too, but much of the time is spent righting wrongs. The sight of a man lying injured beside the road to Riften might give🦂 you cause to assume this is another one of those times. Telrav claims to have been robbed at the crossroads. He just wants someone to help him back to his༺ camp up the road.

Upon reaching the camp, you'll soon realise that none of this was true. The man just wanted you off the main roadway so he and his friends could rob you. They absolutely picked the wrong person to try and rob, of course.

5 🎐 Captain Valmir

Skyrim screenshot of NPC Captain Valmir at his Forelhost camp.

If you happen to stumble across the remote barrow of Forelhost, near Riften, you may encounter the trusty Imperial Captain, Valmir. Depending on your allegiance, you may instead walk into Forelhost's courtyard and find the trusty Stormcloak Officer, Valmir. Strange, that.

He needs a loyal Imperial - or Stormcloak - to venture inside to find the Dragon Priest Rahgot, and his mask. If you do this for him, you will emerge to find him in the uniform of the opposing faction, trying to trick another passing solider into going inside. This master of disguise is a Thalmor agent, and he won't react too well to being caught in a lie. Make sure you've still got a weapon handy.

4 Erandur

Erandur stands on cobblestone streets as he holds up a torch to see at night

Erandur is, as far as you're concerned, a well-meaning priest of Mara who resides in Dawnstar. When you meet, he is very concerned about 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the strange nightmares that seem to be plaguing the citizens of the town. He believes them to be coming from a tower that looms over the shoreline, which was home to a cult of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Daedric prince Vaermina. He seems to know an awful lot abou⛦t it, in fact.

Erandur is hiding a lot from you. He was once a Vaermina worshiper himself, and one of the group that resided inside the Nig🌸htcaller Temple. While an attack trapped the others in magical sleep within, he fled and tried to reinvent himself. He seems to feel remorse for his old ways, so perhaps this liar is not one of the worst.

3 Jaree-Ra

Skyrim screenshot of NPC Jaree-Ra in Solitude.

If you wander around Solitude, it's possible to spot a shifty Argonian loitering around the square. This scaly fellow's name is Jaree-Ra, and he has an amazing offer for you. He wants you to snuff out Solitude's lighthouse beacon, causing a cargo ship to run into rocks in the bay. The lizard man assures you that no one will get hurt. You and his other business associates can play the heroes and help the crew, getting a reward for your efforts.

This is completely untrue, Jaree-Ra's gang always planned to murder the ship's crew. They plan to murder you too, once you've played your part in the scheme. Either steer clear or show them what a bad idea it is to try and trick the hero of Skyrim.

2 Astrid

Skyrim Astrid At The Falkreath Sanctuary

When your introduction to a woman is being kidnapped, locked in a shed, and forced to murder a person, isn't it fairly reasonable to be suspicious of them? Astrid is the leader of Skyrim's Dark Brotherhood, and she apparently sees enough promise in you to give you a chance to enter the grisly organisation. Unfortunately, jealousy is an ugly thing, and as you are chosen as the brotherhood's Listener, she plots your downfall.

She will claim to send you to assassinate the emperor, but secretly aler🉐ts the authorities of the plan, dooming the plan to failure and putting your life at risk. This is disastrous for you, the Brotherhood, and ultimately Astrid.

1 Vaermina

Erandur tries to end Vaermina's terror during the Waking Nightmare quest in Skyrim

A powerful Daedra, lying? Shocking, I'm sure. The quest 'Waking Nightmare' is full of deceit, and while Erandur is not entirely honest about associations with Vaermina's cult, he is not the most dangerous liar there.

As the two of you approach the Skull of Corruption, believed to be the source of the nightmares haunting Dawnstar, you will hear a voice in your mind. Vaermina speaks to you and insists that Erandur plans to betray you. It urges you to murder the Dunmer whilst he's preoccupied. If you ignore the demonic voice in your head urging you to kill, you'll discover that Erandur has no such plans. That said, you don't get the Daedric artifact if you ignore Vaermina, so maybe the evil voice had a point.
