This quest tasks players with uncovering the true identity of the Butcher, a murderer who runs rampant throughout Windhelm. Players spend the quest talking to various NPCs to figure out what the Butcher might be up to, using detective skills to find who their next target is. It's incredibly satisfying to play through, but like many Skyrim quests, there are a lot of hidden details to📖 uncover. Here are 10 hidden details about "Blood on the Ice" you likely missed.

10 𝓡 The Butcher's Journals

Players may notice that the quest revolves around necromancy, seein⛎g as cert♉ain bones and organs are missing from murdered victims.

What🌳 players may not realize, however, is that the Butcher is studying necroman𒐪cy to resurrect his dead sister. His sister Lucilla's death drove the Butcher mad, leaving him to find body parts and learn necromancy rituals to bring her back. That is also why all of his victims are women.

9 🧔 Guard Hints 💃

"Blood on the Ice" gives little hints to play🍃ers when investigating the various murders that occur throug🧔hout the quest, leading some to get rather frustrated with the quest.

Bethesda pla꧂nned for this, however, and allows players to ask guards for advice and hints. Talking to Jorleif about the murders will let Jorleif permit you to use his guards for help. Talkไing to any guard afterward will provide various hints and tips that should make the quest much easier for those with a less keen eye.

8 Maj✱or Choice

Skyrim has plenty of , but plenty of them are linear and lack important choices. Que𓆏sts that 🐬do typically require input towards the end, affecting the reward received and not the quest content itself.

This quest is different in that a critical decision is required halfway through it. When players find the necromancer amulet from Wuunferth, you can try him as the Butcher or speak to Jorlꦕeif. If players confront Wuunferth about it, he gets set in a prison and another murder occurs days later, showing he isn't the real Butcher. Players who speak with Jorleif will immediately tꦆrigger the quest step of finding and killing the Butcher.

7 🐭 It Only Starts At Nigh꧂t

Some players will𝓰 notice that this quest can not start during the daytime, or might find it difficult to start the🌳 quest due to the corpse not appearing.

That 💃is no bug or incident, as this quest only starts during the night. If players visit t🦹he murder scene between 7:00 PM and 7:00 AM the quest will begin, with a crowd of people surrounding the crime scene.

6 Civil War Bugs 𒁏

Unlike the last entry, there are plenty of bu𓃲gs associated with this questline. Dragons can kill enough people in the town to break the quest, or sometimes critical NPCs will die 🍒and prevent quest progression.

The biggest bug, however, is starting this quest before fighting in the Skyrim civil war. If players capture Windhelm for the Imperials before following through with quest steps for "Blood on the Ice", the guards might not show up and prevent the quest from starting. The Unofficial Skyrim Patch 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:mod fixes this issue, however.

5 Guards Comment On Quest Completion ♛

Bei🦄ng the Dragonborn, many citizens and high-ranking people wi♛ll request your assistance in matters, but some quests will refuse to acknowledge the player for the deeds they have done.

Not with "Blood on the Ice!" Guards will comment about you solving the murders with great appreciation, or they might frustratingly rant about how they were so close to finishing the mystery themselves until you came along. These sorts of interactions are why Skyrim is still held by many as 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:one of the best RPGs.

4 ও Manor Door Dif🍸ficulty Changes

This is a fun one. The manor is impossible to ente♈r be𒉰fore the quest begins, requiring a lock to enter that players can not get without the quest starts.

However, w꧟hen the quest begins, the lock changes to a Master tier difficulty lock instead of requiring a key to proceed. Of course, players claim a key from Tova Shatter-Shield when they talk to her, but those who don't c🐼an simply pick their way inside if their Lockpick skill is high enough.

3 🅷ꦉ Tova Shatter-Shield Commits Suicide

Speaking of Tova Shatter-Shield, she experience꧑s massive distress at the st꧒art of the quest. It becomes apparent that her daughter, Friga, was one of the victims of the Butcher's twisted plans.

If players do not talk to her about the situation to receive the key, they may also visit her house to find it as well. Unfortunately, it is on her dead🌄 body. Not from murder by the Butcher, but from her committing suicide. Tova is so shocked that the Butcher is still murdering people tha🌌t she becomes too stressed and worried to continue living. It's incredibly tragic, yet shows just how much detail goes into making a quest like this.

2 ♓ Dead Victims Change

A marketplace during the day, surrounded by gray stone buildings and a handful of interested shoppers.

Because of the nature of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Elder Scrolls titles, plenty of things can change b🐈ased on quests previously done. Certain NPCs might be critical to a multitude of quests, meaning they must be marked essential to prevent quests from breaking.

In "Blood on the Ice," if players killed Nilsine in the "Mourning Never Comes" quest, Tova will be mark﷽ed for murder instead of Nilsine. The final murder victim for the quest is also a random woman, meaning that previous women you may have killed or murder will influence who the Butcher g🎶oes after towards the end. If all women are dead somehow, the quest will usually bug out.

1 The Bཧutcher Can't Be Captured 🌸

Despite the various choices players can make throughout this quest, theyꦡ are unable to capture the Butcher by any means, instead, they are forced to kill him.

This is a shame when it comes to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:roleplaying, sꦅeeing as your character can not find a way to pacify him through magic to arrest him. However, with a hell-bent necromancer murdering an entire town of people, it makes sense that the best course of justice is to give the Butcher a 💯taste of their own medicine.
