Riften is an excellent place to visit on your tour of Skyrim. The lakeside town has excellent fisheries, a thriving local brewery that produces some of the province's best mead, and the only Temple dedicated to Mara. Just make sure to keep your eyes peeled for pickpockets and other unsavory locals.
The capital of the Rift has a well-earned reputation for criminal activity thanks to the Thieves Guild being set up in the city's elaborate sewage system. Some of its more prominent residents, such as Maven Black-Briar, have a less-than-clean reputation. For all the bounty that the land offers, there is a rot within.
