Few video game franchises handle progression half as well as . With the exception of , the series has don𒊎e an excellent job at making Link🎐 become stronger over the course of each game without relying on a traditional leveling system.
Instead, you upgrade Link by finding new equipment, completing Heart Containers, or upgrading old items. For all the flack gets, the game arguably has the best upgrade system in any . F🍃i🥃nding a new piece of gear is only the beginning when it comes to since a few items can actually be upgraded into better variants.
Slingshot Upgrade
The Slingshot is a classic Zelda item that often gets made redundant the moment you find the Bow & Arrow. This has been the case since Ocarina of Time and was pushed to the extreme with Twilight Princess. Surprisingly, Skyward Sword keeps the Slingshot useful throughout the whole game by making it a stunning item. A💜 single Deku Seed can stop an enemy in their tracks, leaving them vulnerable to easy damage.
The Slingshot is obtained before Skyview Temple at the start of the game and can be upgraded into the Scattershot after completing the dungeon. Toꦫ upgrade a Scattershot, you need the follow♉ing treasures:
- 50 Rupees
- 2 Amber Relics
- 2 Dusk Relics
- 3 Jelly Blobs
Once you have a Scattershot, you can hold down the A-Button to charge up sev🦩eral Seeds in one go. Letting go will rain Deku Seeﷺds down on enemies, guaranteeing that anyone in your trajectory will get stunned. The Scattershot is an excellent upgrade that makes Slingshot aiming all the easier.
Bug Net Upgrade
The Bug Net made its debut in A Link to the Past, but wouldn’t make a series comeback until Skyward Sword. Using the Wii’s motion controls, the Bug Net lets you catch in-game bugs via the same control scheme as your sword. You can purchase a Bug Net at Beedle’s Air Shop for 50 Rupees at the start of the game. Once you have a Bug Net, it can be upgraded into a Big Bug Net with the following treasure:
- 100 Rupees
- 2 Ancient Flowers
- 1 Evil Flower
- 3 Tumbleweeds
The only main difference between the Bug Net and the Big Bug Net is that the latter has a much larger range which allows you to catch multiple bugs at once. The Big Bug Net makes catching every bug in the game much easier, which goes🍌 a long way considering how many you’ll need to net for 100 percent completion.
Beetle Upgrades
Introduced in Skyward Sword, the Beetle is Skyview Temple’s dungeon item. By holding out the Wiimote and aiming, you can shoot out the Beetle and control it mid-air. The Beetle is originally used to hit switches from afar before you get the Bow, but it’s upgraded into the Hook Beetle in Lanayru Desert as part of the story.
The Hook Beetle can actually grab items and bring them back to Link. To upgrade the Beetle even further,ܫ you need the following treasure:
- 50 Rupees
- 2 Ancient Flowers
- 1 Golden Skull
- 2 Hornet Larvae
Upgrading the Hook Beetle turns it into the Quick Beetle, which buffs its speed considerably and makes nabbing items much easie🐟r. The Beetle can be upgraded one final time if you find these treasures:
- 50 Rupees
- 4 Amber Relics
- 3 Ancient Flowers
- 1 Blue Bird Feather
- 1 Goddess Plume
This will upgrade the Beetle into the Tough Beetle, which increases its flight speed even further𓃲 while also elongating how long the Beetle can stay mid-air. This makes solving Beetle puzzles late-game a breeze while letting you n🏅ab plenty of goodies in one go.
Bow Upgrades
The Bow is obtained rather late in Skyward Sword, held off until the Sandship at the midway point. The Bow can be upgraded into the Iron Bow with the following treasure:
- 50 Rupees
- 2 Eldin Ores
- 1 Evil Crystal
- 3 Monster Claws
- 3 Tumbleweeds
Upgrading the Bow into the Iron Bow increases its strength and the overall range, allowing you to snipe enemies from even further away. The Iron Bow can be upgraded one more time into the Sacred Bow with these treasures:
- 100 Rupees
- 2 Evil Crystals
- 1 Goddess Plume
- 3 Lizard Tails
- 5 Tumbleweeds
The Sacred Bow buffs the Boജw’s strength and range even more, making most long range shots a one-hit ki꧙ll. While it takes a fair amount of treasure, the Sacred Bow is worth upgrading ASAP and one of the best weapons in Skyward Sword.
