Everybody should be treated under the same laws and guidelines, whether you are the President of the United States of America or SimpLord69. That is the message that Twitch﷽ sent to its users when they suspended Donald Trump's ﷽channel on the platform.
Speaking to Fox Business, Rod "Slasher" Breslau explained the reasoning behind Twitch's suspension of the president. "They wanted to make sure that Trump is the same as SimpLord69 – as a random person on the website – and that they would suspend him the same way as anybody else." Trump's Twitch account was suspended for airing one of his 2016 rallies, in which he called Mexican immigrants "rapi🐟sts." Hate speech is not tolerated on Twitch, and thꦛat is the reason why Trump got suspended.
Slasher is an esports consultant and insider who has made several appearances on the news to talk about video games and esports. This latest appearance might be the most legendary, as he was able to drop "Simplord69" on the live broadcast. The news anchor🉐 moved on quickly, probably because he didn't understand the term "Simplord."
Twitch made an extremely thought-provoking decision in this case. They suspended the president for his controversial comments, something that other social media platforms haven't done before. While Twitch hasn't been forthcomin𝓰g on why it's suspended all of its users, they've made it very clear with the suspension of the president's account. If people are going to use hateful words 🅰on the platform, they will get suspended or banned, regardless of title.
As Twitch's platform grows beyond gaming, more people will flock to c🍌apture some of its large audience, including politicians like the president and Bernie Sanders. Live-streaming is a powerful platform, and Twitch n🍃eeds to regulate it to make it a safe place for everybody. As for Slasher, his "Simplord69" comment on Fox Business was as terrific as it was hilarious. "Simp" was truly a perfect term to slip in, likely unfamiliar to the host and most of the audience. Slasher probably won't be able to top the "Simplord69" comment anytime soon, but it would be awesome to see him try in his next appearance.
