After waking up in the family basement, you will realize that you are alone, aside from the faithful family dog. Much of the house's foundations have crumbled, blocking off the stairs, but you need to get above the surface. The dank basement will make things difficult to see. You likely try the cubbyhole in the far corner, only to be faced with a wall, sending you back to the stairs - and since there's no shifting the rubble.
You'll wander the length of the room tapping the 'interact' button just waiting for something to happen. Until, suddenly like many other players, you will notice the man reaching towards the bookcase in the corner and a beam of light hitting the broken concrete across the stairs. Don't worry, if your brightness wasn't turned up enough, this is hard to see at the best of times, but you can shift the furniture and utilize your alien power here to really begin your journey.
7 🥀 Tried To Move A Hay Bale
You made your way out of the crumbling house and into the world, which looks even more devastated than you assumed. Now it's time to find your family. The family dog is yapping at various things that could be a solution to moving forward. There's a fragile fence that looks breakable.
In line with the fence is a large circular hay bale with a red handle. You grab that handle and try to wrangle it into rolling, but no, it's not usable. It's just a hay bale that moves a fraction but not enough to be a part of the puzzling world around you. You try again on the next one. Nope, still not a part of the puzzle.
6 ဣ Ran Around The Alien Orbs
As the hay bales stand around, being useless hay bales, small dark orbs spin and turn around you. It's clear they're part of the alien race that has invaded Earth, but these seem tame. Friendly, even. Small apertures in the center of the orbs flash three colors - blue, red, and purple. It seems like they're communicating in some way.
The orbs appear to follow your movements, rolling around like a stumbling toddler. You can flash your blue light power until your fingers tire, but actual communication with the orbs isn't possible. As they appeared while you are with the man's dog, it could just be that these are the alien's dogs, literal balls of cuteness.
5 ꦉ൩ Fell Off A Platform
Perhaps one of the more frustrating aspects of Somerville is the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:movement within the 2.5D environment. Depth perception is much harder to 🥀work with when you can control the man moving into and out of the foreground. This can be an issue when crossing over plummeting gaps on tiny platform🍌s.
It's pretty easy to either nudge him in the wrong direction or to think you're at the end of the platform when in reality there are still a few feet to go. Then oops, it's a long fall into the darkness and our man respawns a short way away. Don't worry, you'll get it next time. Hopefully.
4 Used The Wro💞ng Light Power
The man central to the Somerville story earns two powers: blue which turns alien materials into liquid, and red, which hardens said liquid into a form of concrete. In many of the environmental puzzles, you'll have to soften a material before hardening it again. It's easy to confuse these in moments of panic or frustration.
You know you need to soften the material in order to swim in the waters beneath, but you'll often find yourself tapping the incorrect button, and suddenly you've created a concrete raft. There are many moments in the game that involve juggling these powers, so it's an easy mistake to make, albeit one that wastes a bit of time and makes you feel a bit silly.
3 🌱 Marveled At The Carnage
There's a certain beauty in worlds careening towards the apocalypse. Whether it's standing among the tents of a dilapidated music festival, some tents still lit from within, or it's a sunset sky of bruises behind the rolling British countryside, viewed from a wooden bench at the top of a hill.
Even the blocked streets outside a shopping mall can look oddly beautiful in Somerville. Mostly because it's often tinted with a fluorescent blue, red, or purple from the man's hands or a passing alien. Even running for your life through the streets, as a purple beam of light destroys any living creature looks pretty special.
2 ♈ ൩ Gasped At The Top Of A Church Steeple
You wouldn't be alone in being a little taken aback once you reach the top of the church's steeple. This comes after a panicked chase through the streets as aliens beam down their death ray and unleash a pack of robot wolves to catch you. Little by little, they gain on you until the family dash into the safe haven of a church.
Well, until🌳 the robots bust down the doors, and you run to the top of what seems to be an endless spiral staircase. The purple hero comes out of nowhere and begins blasting the aliens, just as you reach the top. It still seems as if the family is in danger until a government aircraft hovers in to take the man back to base. Your gasp will likely come as his family is left stranded with the aliens reaching out to them. Fade to black.

You'd be forgiven for seeking out how to trigger them. Each ending delivers a new weight to the story and which one you prefer will certainly hinge on your perception of the aliens vs the human race.
It's all a lot like the end of Independence Day with the landscape covered in wrecked ships and humanity trying to rebuild. We just hope the man finally bent down and pet his dog, because that good boy has been waiting quite a while.
