A Baryan army needs to work as a cohesive unit to achieve victory, from pike-and-shot formations to hammer-and-anvil flanking maneuvers. Barya also boasts the most advanced technology in Songs Of Conquest, having mastered gunpowder and metallurgy. They tend to have an easier time with research than other factions, al🐻lowing t🌠hem to field quality, well-equipped soldiers in large numbers.

Baryan troops work in tandem with one anothe🌳r, with humans holding the line and providing fire support while goblinoid harima deal heavy damage in melee. Their easily-acquired Order and Destruction Essences give their spellcasters the ability to wield magic for offense and defense in equal measure.

Baryan Strategy

Barya has to rely on its medium-sized recruitment buildings much more than other factions, which is saying something. Dreaths can handle most enemies in the early game, but are vulnerable to ranged attacks, while Pipers are all but useless until upgraded.

On the plus side, a Barya player can comfortably rely on their mid-tier units well into the late game and can even get away with never building Hellbreath Factories at all. This frees up large building sites for research buildings, letting you easily purchase upgrades for your favored units.

While it can be expensive to do so, it's recommended that you aggressively upgrade all your units. The additional abilities that upgra๊ded Baryan units get are exceptional, making them well worth the investment of resources.

Pikeneers and Musketeers are the cornerstone of nearly every Barya army, so your first goal on any map will be to construct a Mercenary Quarters as soon as possible. The building has no prerequisites, but costs Wood - build a Sawmill right away if there are no sources of lumber nearby. Shops are necessary to upgrade the Mercenary Quarters, so you'll need one of those eventually as well.

While you're building up for your first settlement expansion and the medium build site that comes with it, put a Dreath Den in your second building slot. Dreaths are a fantastic early-game unit, and there's really no comparison to your other option, Pipers.

Pipers are easily one of the weakest units in the game, but are necessary to recruit the much better Brutes and Sassanids. If heavy-hitting harima are part of your strategy, you're going to need to build a Piper's Post.

Make the best of it by upgrading the Piper's Post as soon as you can afford to do so. Steam Pipers are much🔯 more useful than their basic 🙈brethren.

When you unlock a large building site, the Merchant's Guild is a great selection as it allows you to boost your economy and enhance Mercenary units. If the game runs long you'll probably need a Factory to counter Dragons and Legions, but this should be a very late construction after you have everything else you need - at seven thousand Gold and fifteen Celestial Ore, a single Factory will set you back some serious cash before even factoring in the cost of the Hellbreath cannons themselves!
