Leaked storyboards from seem to indicate that Jim Carrey will be returning to his role as Dꦗoctor Eggman, something t🧸hat initially seemed unlikely after he retired from acting in 2022.
One of the biggest questions that Sonic the Hedgehog fans have about the upcoming third movie (well, beyond who will be voicing everyone's favourite edgy hedgehog) is whether or not Jim Carrey will be returning as Doctor Eggman. , but it looks like he's come back for at least one more movie.

It seems that Paramount has been hit with some kind of hack as the past few days have seen some of its projects leak, including the intro for the new Fairly OddParents series and . It's not clear if these Sonic 3 leaks are from the final version of the movie, but if you're hoping to go into the movie with fresh eyes, then here's your potential spoiler warning.
Although the leaked storyboards have been taken down by Paramount, mirrors and copies of them can be found on Twitter and other social media sites with a little bit of searching. The storyboards show what appears to be the movie's climatic finale and feature Shadow outside of a space station, which is clearly meant to resemble the one from Sonic Adventure 2, further🌠ing the idea that this is an adaptation of that game.
The most interesting thing about the storyboards, however, is that they appear to show Doctor Eggman back in action after he seemingly met his end at the hands of Super Sonic in Sonic 2's finale. Not only does this indicate that he didn't die at the end of that movie, but it also suggests that Jim Carrey has returned to the role after previously claiming that he was retiring from acting.
The leaked storyboards sadly don't indicate whether Agent Stone is going to be returning alongside Eggman, but we can't see the two being separated considering how beloved their pairing is.
Although it's possible that another actor has taken on the role of Eggman and that Carrey really has retired, but some of the facial expressions that the character makes in the storyboards really do feel like they're made for Carrey. The actor also previously claimed that he'd return to a movie if it was "really important for people to see", and it's possible that he feels that way about his role as Eggman. Nothing has been confirmed so far, but we do at least know from this leak that Doctor Eggman will be involved in some way.
