Sonic almost had a sister to go fast with back in 1993, but disgruntled fans of an RPG you have probably never heard of prevented her existence becoming a re🍬ality.

The cast of the 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is one that has been growing ever since Tails was added to the mix in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Knuckles joined the fray shortly after, and the likes of Amy, Shadow, Silver, and so many others have come along since. However, before almost all of Sonic's friends and enemies were introduced to the gaming world, Sega had plans to give Sonic a sister.

The plan for a Sonic the Hedgehog sibling dates all the way back to 1992, the year in which the aforementioned Sonic 2 was released. Meanwhile, an unrelated RPG named Popful Mail was released on the Mega CD (known as the Sega CD in the US) in Japan. Sega teamed with Falcom with the intention of reskinning Popful Mail to make🦋 it a Sonic title be🔯fore releasing it in the US.

In 1993, Electronic Gaming Monthly got wind of Sega Falcom's plans and reported the news to its readers. It revealed that the Sonic RPG would be called Sister Sonic, and would give the franchise's fans a first look at the iconic blue hedgehog's sibling. Thanks to the reactions of gamers who got wind of the news, that first look would never happen, something that remains the case to this very day.

Gamers wanted Popful Mail to be released in the US in its original form, voicing their displeasure at Sega Falcom's plans for Sister Sonic via strongly-worded letters. For you young readers, letters are an older, much slower version of Twitter. Sega Falcom responded to the backlash by canceling the game's release completely and halting development. Popful Mail would not make it stateside until 1995 due to 🐼the change of🐷 direction.

With that, Sister Sonic was gone forever. Worst of all, she never even really existed. Other than the odd mention of Sonic's long-lost sibling in 1993, there is no trace of her. No artwork, no screenshots, she doesn't even have a name. Sega Falcom never even revealed how far along it was with the project when it was canceled. Since there is still nothing to show for it 27 years later, we're assuming very little had been done.
