In an exclusive interview with fansite , Sonic Team leader Takashi Iizuka compared the team's new game relea🔯sing next year to Sonic A💮dventure, explaining that it will hopefully "lay the foundation" for the future of the franchise just like Sonic Adventure did on the Dreamcast:

"Sonic Adventure laid the found༒ation for🍒 20 years of Sonic titles after its release, so in the same way I really hope that this new title releasing in 2022 lays the foundation for the following future Sonic titles – that is the idea behind the challenge for the team.”

Iizuka went on to explain that even though the game was shown off during th🐭e most recent Sonic Central live stream, he can't really go into🦄 much detail about what the game will be about. According to Iizuka, the team wanted to show fans that the studio is working on a new game and that it will be "something new and challenging."

Just the passing mention of Sonic Adventure is enough to get even the most jaded Sonic fan excited. Both Sonic Adventure and Sonic Adventure 2 are regarded as some of the best games in the series, with fans desperate for a third. It's unlikely that this new Sonic game will be a direct sequel and details about the game seemingly leaked online as early as August 2020, hinting that the game 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:could be open-world.

And while news about this mystery Sonic game is still thin on the ground, a potential name for the game has been found.
