Like most of the Game Gear Sonics, Sonic Triple Trouble didn’t get nearly as much attention as its 16-bit cousins. Although k🏅nown for being one of the better 8-bit Sonic titles, it still suffered from common shortcomings owing to the Game Gear’s lim꧑ited hardware, such as poor framerates and a square screen that greatly limited a player’s view.
But "what if Sonic Triple Trouble had been originally released on the Sega Genesis / MegaDrive, after Sonic 3 & Knuckles?" asked. The sonic fan and game deౠveloper has been working on a 16-bit remake of Sonic Triple Trouble for over a year, finally releasing the answer to his own question earlier this week.
Copeland has completely reimagined Sonic Triple Trouble in this remake. Besides the upgraded 16-bit graphics that put it on par with something like Sonic Mania, the game also allows the player to choose between𒉰 a 4:3 and 16:9 aspect ratio, finally letting Sonic fans see what’s coming as they barrel through levels at several times the speed of sound.
In addition to the graphics overhaul, each stage has new layouts, new enemies, and new mechanics. You can swap between Sonic and Tails on the fly (and it’s even required for some zones), there are save slots and waypoints (a la Sonic 3 and Soni🍨c & Knuckles), and the music has been remastered too. Special stages have even been remade in 3D (again, like Sonic 3/Knuckles) so you have to race Nack the Weasel to🌱 reach the Chaos Emerald.
Best of all, you can get Sꦆonic Triple Trouble 16-Bit absolutely free on . There’s also an Android ver🥀sion on the way too, according to .
