Sony has pushed the release date of its Monster Hunter movie until April 23, 2021.

The film, based on the Capcom series of the same name, is a reteaming of Resident Evil franchise star Milla Jovovich and director Paul W.S. Anderson. Hopefully, Monster Hunter will be of better quality than the more recent Resident Evil m🐭ovies, but that is a pretty low bar in and oဣf itself.

For those looking for a silver lining in all this, A💝nderson has said he is a long time fan of the series and has been trying to get the film made for ten years. So, there is a chance that passion will translate to the screen.

The plot summary of the film says we will follow Lt. Artemis and her loyal soldiers after th▨ey transported to a new world, where they engage in a desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers. It sounds downright Shakespiran.

The film's narrative was not taken from any previous Monster Hunter game, despite Anderson's love of t𝔍he series. Still, it will feature many of the iconic weapons, armor, and of course, monsters that the series is known for. Though many fans have voiced their displeasure at the direction of the film, they'll have to wait to see if their misgivings prove true or not.

As for why the film ha🍬s been delayed, while nothing has been officially stated, it more than likely has something to do with the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides being responsible for countless delays and shutdowns of films, it also has led to a closure of theatres across the world. If people can't go to the theatre, or at the very least don't feel safe doing so, that is going to limit how much a film can make during its theatrical release.

So, we will have to wait to see just w🍎hat Anderson and company have come up with. Considering the track record that comes with most video game movie🍌s and considering the video game movies that have been helmed by Anderson has helmed himself, it hard to get one's hopes up. It seems crafting a high-quality film based on a video game is a monstrous task that no one can slay.
