With the unpredictable nature of the coronavirus pandemic still looming over the world, Bandai Namco is playing it safe when it comes to the tournament scene around its fighters. In an effort to combat the spread of the disease, the company has pulled all official support for 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Soulcalibur, 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Tekken, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dragon Ball tournaments for the remainder of the year.
In posts on the websites for each series, Bandai Namco writes, "Out of an abundance of care and caution for the health and safety of tournament participants and staff, Bandai Namco Entertainment Inc. has made the difficult decision to cancel official support for all remaining physical tournament events in the 2020 season for the Tekken, SoulCalibur, and Dragon Ball FighterZ World Tours respectively."
As many may be unaware, events need to get clearance from publishers to host official tournaments around specific franchises. This is the reason why Smash Bros. was left out of EVO for a short period: Nintendo didn't okay the usage of its fighter for streaming. This doesn't mean that smaller venues can't host local get-togethers, but Bandai Namco ♔won't be officially endorsing such events.
Physical events may be a no go, but Bandai Namco is looking into hosting online replacements for 2020. "While BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment's official support of physical tournament events has been canceled for the 2020 season, we arꦛe finalizing online competition event solutions for the remainder of the year and aim to have more news to share soon."
That's similar to what EVO is doing for 2020. Online tournaments may not be the most ideal when it comes to fighting games, but it is the best option currently available. There is no point in risking competitors' health just to throw fists in a virtual match. The same thing can be accomplished from the co🎉mfort of one's home.
Hopefully, the coronavirus situation gets somewhat under control by next year. The drain it has had on the morale of everyone is staggering, but we need to remain strong if we are to beat this. Bandai Namco's♉ decision here might sound extreme, but it is absolutely the correct one to make.
