When it comes to playing rogue-type games, there is plenty to explore and lots of secrets to discover like in the Spelunky series. It continues the Spelunky tradition of requiring you to find a specific combination of items and take them to where they need to be in order to unlock the entrance. Once such areꦡa known as the Sunken city ca🦩n be reached by finding the Qilin.
What Is The Qilin?
One of the new additions that Spelunky 2 has added is Mounts. There are several different types of mounts that can either be found or purchased at the Pet Store. You must tame the mount before you can ride it but once you do, you’ll gain access to a number of abilities, some of which may be unique to said mount. The Qilin is a special mount 🌳that can only be gained you📖 collect the proper items and head to the right location.
The Qilin has the ability to fly around without getting tired and is one of the o▨nly two mounts that is able to shoot fireballs. As such, the Qilin makes it very easy to get past enemies, can successfully m♕anage difficult jumps, and navigate through tricky traps. Despite how powerful it makes seem, the Qilin only has 4 HP so you should be cautious while riding it or you’ll lose access to the Sunken City.
How To Obtain The Qilin
Unlike other mounts, the Qilin has a very specific process for obtaining it that requires sev꧋eral important steps. Since it can only be obtained late in the game, you’ll need to do your best to survive until that point.
- Step 1: First you need to obtain an item known as the Tablet Of Destiny. To get it, you need to either defeat Kingu or Osiris, the bosses of Abzu and the Duat respectively. The former is the better option since Abzu is more straightforward to find and Kingu is the far easier opponent.
- Step 2: Once you have the Tablet, you need to read its journal entry, which will dictate a prophecy. It refers to an item known as the Ushabti (a figurine) that can be found in 6-2 of the Neo Babylon area. You’ll need to grab the correct one based on the prophecy’s description, which will cover its appearance, material (color), and a symbol carved into its stomach.
- Step 3: Once you have the correct Ushabti, you’ll need to carry it to the area 6-3 of Neo Babylon. Once you arrive here, the Ushabti will hatch into the Qilin. You’ll need to ride it safely to Tiamat’s Throne in Neo Babylon 6-4. Though Tiamat will be waiting for you, you can simply fly the Qilin to the top of the room and enter the opening in order to reach the Sunken City.
