Updated on 26/10/203 at 12:49pm BST: Donny Cates has acknowledged the complaints from fans about not crediting creators with on the Venom press tour pulling a face.
If there's one thing you can't criticise Insomniac Games for, it's a lack of comic book appreciation. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Spider-Man 2 is absolutely full to the brim with comic book references, whether that be the dozens of suits paying homage to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Spider-Man stories both old and new, or the inclusion of certain villains that have never been portrayed in interactive media before. Certain parts of Spider-Man 2's story are also very reminiscent of different comic book runs.
It's nice to see Insomniac diving into Spider-Man's rich comic book history for potential video game ideas; however, fans are becoming increasingly irritated with the developer due to the lack of credit it's been giving comic book creators. In particular, many are currently up in arms over the Venom arc in Spider-Man 2, and how the original creators behind the ideas Insomniac has used aren't featured in the game's ending credits. If you're bothered about big end game spoilers, now's your time to dip.

Spider-Man 2's Web Wings Are Too Much Of A Good Thing
Peter Parker and Miles Morales don't need to do much swingi🐭ng when they can basically fly now.
If you're a big web-head, you're probably quite familiar with the story beats towards the back end of Spider-Man 2. Harry Osborne, having taken the symbiote from Peter Parker and gone full Venom, unleashes a full-scale symbiote invasion of New York. Upon finally confronting Venom, the hulking black mass sprouts an intimidating pair of wings during the final showdown. Both of these ideas first featured in a comic book run by Donny Cates and Ryan Stegman, yet neither appear in the game's end credits.
Given how much inspiration Insomniac has taken from these comics, even for the designs of Venom's symbiote army, over the lack of credit given to the original comic book creators. There are even some calls for both Cates and Stegman to be paid, especially since the former was recently involved in a nasty accident that resulted in the loss of six months of memory, bringing a halt to the comic book run.
While compensation for the use of comic book references and ideas is probably too idealistic, it's not unreasonable to suggest that Insomniac should be crediting the creators at the very least. Spider-Man 2 has dozens of suits based on comic book appearances, and people have been pointing to by Eidos Montreal as an incredible example of how games can easily and seamlessly credit comic book creators.
Still, it's not like Insomniac is the only offender. The issue of comic book creators getting the credits they deserve was raging long before Insomniac's Spider-Man series came along, but it's a shame to see a developer with a clear love of the comics not give credit where credit is due. Here's hoping that these calls for the likes of Cates, Stegman, and others to be acknowledged changes how Insomniac goes about including references for the next game.
