168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Spider-Man 2’s big Lizard set piece was one of the first moments of gameplay we saw from the game. Sony first showed it off back in May in a reveal that unveiled all the elements that would come into play in the eagerly awaited superhero sequel. We saw Kraven the Hunter killing an🥃 imitator in the jungle, then setting out for a superhero hunt in New York. We saw Miles Morales surprised by Peter Parker’s new black suit. And we saw Lizard — rapidly approaching Godzilla size — swimming in the East Rꦕiver.
So, when I reached this moment in the finished game, I knew where it was headed. I knew Peter would fight Kraven’s goons in Queens, then me👍et up with Miles and Ganke 💧for a high-octane chase along the river. That was still spectacular, but my playthrough was basically the same as what I saw during Sony’s presentation. What surprised me was what happened afterward. Peter continues to follow the Lizard and tracks him to an underground Oscorp facility where Dr. Connors has been attempting to synthesize a cure.
This leads to a long fight in a wide open test room, and it was the first time the game really challenged me. Not Dark Souls-level challenge, obviously — I didn’t die 50 times trying to take down the Lizard. But I died a few times, which is more than I had until then and felt appropriate for a showdown where Spidey is completely outmatched by the size of his opponent. I’ve died a few other times in my playthrough, usually to the random big grunts which can take an obn𒅌oxiously long time to beat. But this was th𒅌e first time I found myself getting mildly irritated at a fight.
Not in a bad way. It made me want to step my game up, to make sure I was jumping instead of dodging when Lizard swung his long, powerful tail, to make sure that I was hitting him with a barrage of web when he jumped up onto the walls, to make sure I was ready with my fingers on L1 and R1 to stun him by hurling open a vent when he got near it. It isn't Margit, the Fell Omen or anything. But it makes you pay attention.
The game repeats this bar-raising at boss fights going forward. Hours later in my playthrough, the only other times the game has challenged me are in the battles against Mister Negative and Kraven (and, again, the odd musclebound goon). Spider-Man 2 is content to let you scoot by in most fights, but tﷺhen throws tough skill ൩checks at you just to make sure you really deserve to wear the mask.
It’s the right balance. I’m on the record as not being the biggest fan of boss fights as a mechanic, but Spider-Man 2’s fights feel like they're more difficult than its regular encounters in the correct proportion. I don’t want to be stuck on a fight for hours and, so far, I haven’t been. Lizard, Martin Li, and Kraven are all tougher and more climactic than run-of-the-mill fi✨ghts, while striking enough of a balance that they don't make you want to rage quit. In the way going toe to toe with a tough villain would push Spider-Man to step up his game, these fights do the same.
