Marvel's Spider-Man is coming to PS4 later this year, and hype is building - fans are hoping this will be the new king of Spider-Man games, perhaps even eclipsing the movie tie-in Spider-Man 2. and had some interesting things to report, specifically about Spidey's new su♒its and gadgets.
The game, with the recently revealed the rele⛄ase date of September 7th, is not a movie tie-in at all; it will have no relation to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man: Home♌coming. In fact, the story takes place years after Peter Parker left high school; in the world of Marvel's♑ Spider-Man, Parker is a seasoned hero, perhaps ready to take on an apprentice in the form of Miles Morales.
While we don't know exactly how many suits the game will feature, Game Informer noted that there were 24 silhouettes in the suit selection screen, before a developer informed themಞ that number was not final. Each suit will come with its own powers, with none necessarily being better than any other.
Maybe the best feature outlined in the Game Informer preview is that the game will allow the player swap the abilities of different suits - in case you like the powers of one suit, but the look of another. As🌜 mentioned previously, all these suits will 🐭all be unlockable in-game.
The game also promises ♛plenty of fun gadgets. Among the few that were previewed was a tripwire web trap - if enemies walk across it, they'll get webbed up and knocked out. These will also play a role in Spider-Man's nonlethal ethos: when an enemy would die (such as being knocked off ✱a roof), one of these traps will automatically spring into action, trapping the enemy on the side of the building.
Also previewed were some of the game's many side missions, some of༒ which will sound familiar to any open-world game fan, and especially players of Rocksteady's Arkham games. Spidey will be taking on missions from allies like the Black Cat, villains like Taskmaster, and even his past self - one of the many collectibles in the game will be Peter Parkers lost backpacks, that he has stuck to places around the city when in need of a quick change. Discovering these backpacks will reveal elements of this iteration of Spider-Man's backstory.
