As surprisingly vast as Splatoon's lore and setting can be, a lot of it does tend to... play a little fast and loose with the bounds of logic. There is certainly no shortage of mind-bogglers throughout the entire series, even with the amount of lore revealed to us in Splatoon 3's Hero Mode.

Even if we focus exclusively on Splatoon 3, there are a good number of things that don't quite add up. Some of them get a pass for gameplay purposes, while others could do with a little more explanation that we may or may not actually get in the future.

9 🎉 ♉ Where Did The Player Come From?

Inkling and Smallfry on a train in Splatoon 3

Just from a glance, you can tell the Splatlands are an almost completely barren desert. The train that you ride into Splatsville at the beginning of the game is in the middle of nowhere and rides through a lot more no🅰where until you reach the city proper. The question is, then, did you actually hike through all of th🎶at yourself?

Given your character's cloak and gas mask before they board the train, that is entirely possible, though they don't seem to have much in the way of provisions. Inklings and Octolings, at least as far as we know, have to eat and drink, so the notion that an actual child could just waltz through the desert to reach a remote train station is a bit far-fetched.

8 🀅 Why Are Super Sea Snails Shrinking?

How One Stupid Shirt Got Me Hooked On Splatoon 3

Has anyone noticed how Super Sea Snails are steadily getting smaller between games? In the original Splatoon, the Super Sea Snails next to Spike on his blanket were about as big as his head (hair not included), but ever since then, they've gotten smaller and smaller. It's gotten to the point where they're barely as big as one of Murch's hands.

In all likelihood, this is just a change in stylistic depiction. Super Sea Snails are still pretty mysterious, not having much explanation in Splatoon's expansive lore, so they can afford to be a little flexible with their depiction. It'd certainly be a curve ball if the Super Sea Snails getting smaller resulted in some sort of major event, though.

7 How Did Sheldon Set Up The License System? ♉

Sunken Scroll showing Sheldon in Splatoon 3

Sheldon is 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:an extremely savvy businessman, of that there can be no doubt. He's the only shopkeeper that's managed to persist through all three Splatoon games, apparently traveling around not only Inkopolis, but all the way to the Splatlands to peddle his wares. That said, no matter how savvy of a businessman you are, you can't just skip the concept of money.

While the Sheldon License system is definitely convenient (not to mention cost-cutting), how the heck did he cut an exclusive deal like that? Surely Sheldon has overhead for his shop that needs covering, not to mention travel expenses, so what kind of financial backing does he have that he doesn't need to charge any actual money for his wares?

6 Aren't Deep Cut Technically Criminals?

Deep Cut

During Hero Mode, the members of Deep Cut explain that their primary career is as desert bandits, stealing cool stuff and using the funds to support the downtrodden of Splatsville. In addition to that, the Sunken Scrolls note that the Anarchy Splatcast 🎃is, in fact, a pirate radio show, hijacking the airwaves from actual programs.

Putting those factors together, aren't Deep Cut plain old criminals? Not horrible ones, mind you, but they have technically broken the law in more ways than one. In spite of that, though, the Anarchy Splatcast is a professional-grade production with ties to the official Splat league, and the trio themselves get to host Splatfests. Maybe Splatsville just doesn't care that much.

5 How Did Shiver And Frye Get Their Pets Into A💫lterna?

Shiver riding Master Mega in Splatoon 3

Alterna is at least a fe♔w hundred feet below the surface of the Crater, if not a few thousand. The only way Agent 3 was able to get in was by falling through the roof of the dome, with the Splatoon presumably following with some manner of flying machine. Putting aside for a moment how they got in themselves, how did Shiver and Fry get their pets all th⛦e way down there?

Frye lugs around a hollowed-out Octostomp full of her giant eels, while Shiver has a gigantic, presumably still water-breathing (or at least ink-breathing) shark. Splatsville doesn't appear to be near any bodies of water, and even if it was, how do you get a shark and a giant cube of eels out of that water, down a thousand-foot hole, and into a warp kettle?

4 Did Nob♔ody See/Hear The Rocket Coming Out Of The Crater? 🐼

New Agent 3 and Smallfry in space in Splatoon 3

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The entire point of Alterna's rocket was to shoot through the dome and out of the many layers of rock and sediment between it and the surface. Yet, somehow, after Mr. Grizz launches this rocket into space, nobody in Splatsville seems to be aware of it. For those of you who have never stood near a rocket launching, it's really loud.

Granted, it is possible that the rocket launched at night, since we can't discern the actual time of day in Alterna's dome, so maybe no one saw it shoot out of the crater. But at the very least, someone should've heard the gigantic rocket breaking through solid Earth and shooting into the stratosphere.

3 What Are The 🧸"Three Ligജhts?"

Three Lights Sunken Scroll Splatoon 3

During the fight with Mr. Grizz, when Smallfry transforms into Hugefry, Shiver and Frye mention "three lights" uniting to consume the disaster. They're referring to a legend outlined in one of the Sunken Scrolls, in which a flood that nearly destroyed the Splatlands was quelled by the supposed "three lights," which are honored in modern times with the three-participant-format Splatfest. A nice legend, but who exactly are the "three lights" in this context?

If we count all the involved parties teaming up against Mr. Grizz, including Deep Cut, the Splatoon, Octavio, and Salmonids (represented by Smallfry), that's four "lights." Perhaps you could argue that Smallfry is included in the Splatoon, and that way, the three "lights" would be Agent 3, Smallfry, and Octavio, but it still seems like a bit of a reach.

2 ♍How Did Mr. Grizz Establish Grizzco?

168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Mr. Grizz established Grizzco so he could swindle Inklings, and later Octolings, into gathering Golden Eggs, with which he could create large quantities of the Fuzzy Ooze for his plan. It's anyone's guess how long Grizzco has actually been around, but putting that aside, how did he get the capital and real estate to launch such a venture?

Mr. Grizz couldn't go out into the world, so there's no way he'd have any local currency. Even if he did, how does pay for things like equipment and business locations? He offhandedly mentions an HR department while launching the rocket; does Grizzco actually have other employees, particularly ones that were clued into Mr. Grizz's plan?

1 💎 Why Do You Still Work For Grizzco?

Splatoon 2 group of salmonoids charging island

So Mr. Grizz is trapped in space, and you don't need to worry about Fuzzy Ooze anymore. Why do you still work for Grizzco, then? Putting aside the mystery of who or what is on the radio now with Grizz gone (it's totally Li'l Judd), you should know that anyone harvesting Golden Eggs is probably doing it for a really bad reason.

Obviously, they can't lock you out of Salmon Run for gameplay reasons, but even then, Deep Cut still hosts regular advertisements for Grizzco on the Anarchy Splatcast. They know who Mr. Grizz is and what he did, so why haven't they told anyone? Or at the very least, pulled their advertising deal?
