168澳洲幸运5开奖网:The Playstation 5 livestream had a variety of highs and lows for gamers everywhere. Horizon: Forbidden West and Resident Evil Village (or VIllage, if you will) being shown was incredibly excitingm while seeing another port of GTA V or whatever the hell Bugsnax is supposed to be was mor♛e puzzling than enticing.

Then there was Square Enix's contribution to the presentation which was lackluster, to say the least. At a time when developers seemed excited to show off their projects, the company that made their name with 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Final Fantasy and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Dragon Quest gave us a trailer for a game that doesn't even seem to have an official title yet. It was definitely the most confusing and underwhelming tra𓂃iler shown throughout thꦛe entire livestream.

Project Apathy

Square Enix has had a pretty strong relationship with Sony over the years. Back in the halcyon days of the first Playstation, they decided to bypass the cartridge-focused N64 in favor of Sony's disc-based system. That led to games like Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX all being Playstation exclusives for several years. This bond has continued over the past few console generations, with Squeenix delivering more and more exclusive games. After all, who could forget such classics as The Bouncer or Dirge Of Cerberus?

Considering this connection, you would think that they would have something big planned for the reveal of the fifth Playstation. Maybe a teaser trailer for Final Fantasy XVI or something related to 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Kingdom Hearts - hell, how about a new Parasite Eve game?

Instead, we got Project Athia, which, does look like a video game alright. The trailer gives almost no information about what this title is su𒁃pposed to be. It features generic taglines like "in a world not her own" and "truths will be question🌌ed", but it all means little to nothing. It looks pretty enough, but beyond that, it resembles any other fantastical action-adventure game that could have come from any other company.

This doesn't feel like an upcoming game for the Playstation 5. It feels more like a proof of concept trailer for their Luminous game engine. It's as if Sony reached out to Square Enix to have a spot in their livestream and they cobbled this video together at the last minute like a college student scrambling to finish an overdue term paper. Even the name Project Athia reeks of a placeholder title.

We sincerely doubt this game will ever see the light of day. It will probably join the ranks of other 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:intriguing yet canceled Square Enix ꦆgames that have their assets rolled into another project, much like how Final Fantasy Versus XIII magically transformed into Final Fantasy XV. Maybe this was secretly a Final Fantasy XVI trailer after all, and we won't know until a decade later when that game is finally don♒e.

Regardless of what fate has in store for Project Athia, Square Enix's offering for the Playstation 5 stream was a bland letdown. We're sure that they're hard at work on some games for the new console that will take advantage of its processing power, but this certainly doesn't have us all that hyped for their PS5 titles. Hopefully, when the PS5 comes out, we'll get something more𒁃 substantial about their future plans that doesn't feel so haphazardly put together.

And of their games in development right now, one of them damn well better be the next chapter in the Final Fantasy VII Remake series, because we'd like to༺ play through that whole saga before we're all committed to retirement homes.
