The release of the Dawntrail expansioꦡn coincided with the release of Final Fant🍸asy 14 on Xbox and, in an interview with , Yoshida confirmed this is only the beginning of Square Enix's Xbox plans.
Square Enix Is Now A Multiplatform Developer
"With Final Fantasy 14's release on Xbox, Phil Spencer spent a lot of his time and a lot of effort and put in a lot of hard work into making it a re🐷ality," Yoshida said. "So, we would like to make the best of that and further deepen the relationship with Xbox gamers going forward."
Square Enix has tended to only release its first-party games o꧃n PlayStation in recent years, and games published but not developed by Square are usually a toss-up as to whether or not they'll appear on Xbox and other platforms.
"When it comes to the Xbox platform, it was difficult for Japanese titles to be released on the platform, and that's tied to the fact that there is an extremely low number of users on Xbox [in Japan]. And naturally, because we are Japanese developers, we have a desire for many people in our country to play our games," Yoshi๊da continued.
"However, at Square Enix, we have been changing our policy. So, now we are moving towards the policy of releasing our games on a multiplatform basis, and we really want as many players as possible to play our titles. So, wi🌱th Final Fantasy 14 as the starti🍎ng point, we do want to release more Square Enix games on Xbox, and there will be more of our titles released on Xbox. So I hope players will look forward to future things to come on the platform," Yoshida concluded.
The specifics of Square Enix's p🐽lans are unknown, mainline entries of the company's flagship Final Fant🎃asy series have been PlayStation timed exclusives in recent years, and this isn't likely to change any time soon.
Yoshida's words will be music to the ears of Xboಞx players, especially given his mention of Xbox head Phil Spencer, who seems to hav൲e impressed the Japanese company. Exactly which Square Enix titles are coming to Xbox remains to be seen.
