168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Star Ocean: The Second Story is known for its very large cast of characters and how difficult it can be to choose which ones to take along with you on your journey. This issue is multiplied by the fact that you even have to choose between two different main characters.

A mode﷽rn rem🦩ake that respects your time yet makes me disrespect it anyway by being so damn engrossing.

Despite this game following a single group of travellers that always includes a certain pair, Claude and Rena, you'll have to choose between them to set your POV character. This will change a few important things in your playthrough, and there are a few things you may want to know before making that particular choice.

Claude Vs. Rena: The Differences

The Lacuer Arena in Star Ocean The Second Story

The most important thing to note regarding this choice is that the game's story does not actually change depending on who you pick at the beginning. Claude and Rena will stil♒l meet up and t🍨ravel together, going to the same locations and experiencing the same story beats.

What changes is what scenes you see when the pair are split up, even for a short time, and if you're new to Star Ocean, what you know about the game's background. Thanks to the difference in scenes, there are two characters in the game who can only be recruited when you're playing on a certain route.

The differences are explained below:

If You Pick Claude

If You Pick Rena

  • You will be able to recruit Leon, a powerful spellcaster who may be more useful than Celine, who is available on both routes.
  • You will know about Claude's origins and be able to appreciate the lengths he has to go to in order to obfuscate them.
  • You'll be able to train Claude up before the first boss fight against Allen.
  • During the tournament arc in Lacuer, you will have to control Claude through three battles to reach the final.
  • You will be able to recruit Dias, a swordsman. He's powerful, but there are other characters who fill the same role and do just as well, if not better - Claude, for example.
  • You won't know Claude's true origins, and learning as such is a mystery hinted at and revealed throughout the game.
  • You'll learn more about Rena's past sooner than you would on Claude's route.
  • You will have to fight the first boss fight against Allen with a level one Claude, which may be difficult.
  • During the Lacuer tournament arc, Claude only has to win one battle in the game's combat engine to make it to the final. If he wins the first, he will automatically win the others.

So who's best? The answer, really, is either of them. While the choice is largely meaningless in the long run, thanks to the game's overall story remaining the same, both routes offer unique perspectives. Thanks to the large cast of characters, it's possible to have a very different experience of the story on a second playthrough, too.

If you want to make a decision between the exclusive characters, Leon (Claude's route) is more useful, but Dias (Rena's route) is far more compelling in terms of the narrative and as a character.

In terms of who would be best to pick first, if you have no experience of the story, we recommend Rena. The story beats that get 'revealed' on Rena's routes are more satisfying than the reveals on Claude's routes.
