Star Wars Outlaws looks at the adventurous side of Star Wars a🔯nd lets us roam desert planets on the run from bandits.

But as you build your reputation and take on different missions from the various syndicates, there's the potential to draw ire from the Empire itself. The all-mighty Empire will have outposts and a presence in all the playable locales, and if you do something bad, then they won't be afraid to come after you.

Death Troopers, And More Will Come After You In Outlaws

“Think the police in Grand Theft Auto,” creative director Julian Gerighty shared with EW. Per the creative, there will be six levels of notoriety, ranging from not so severe to extreme. In other words, it's Grand Theft Auto's wanted system brought into the world of Star Wars.

For the uninitiated, GTA's wanted system has five levels (it used to be six), ranging from one star (not severe) to five stars (most severe). The exact level of wanted a player is under is determined by their actions. For example, running over a pedestrian will trigger a one-star wanted level, whereas a three-star wanted comes from killing a police officer. A five-star level is the culmination of all those actions and repeated retaliation.

At that point, the game's NPCs will attempt to kill the player at all costs, though players can escape and bring down the heat.

So how will it work in Outlaws? Well, it turns out it's a lot similar, but with a few twists only possible in a Galaxy Far, Far Away. Instead of SWAT teams chasing you, it'll eventually be Death Troopers. “If you start being seen doing crimes, that will start getting them [the Empire] to chase you," Gerighty said. "If you take some of them out, then it gets worse and worse, where they'll send, at the ultimate level, Death Troopers — and maybe even worse."

The "even worse" part is certainly the most interesting element of it all. Given that this is Star Wars, and there is no shortage of bounty hunters, guns for hire and all manner of Sith and Jedi, there certainly appears to be the possibility that some famous characters or factions could come after you. Of course, you'd have to survive the Death Troopers first. Only maybe then would Darth Vader consider you worth his time. Now, wouldn't that be epic?
