Crossplay was a major theme for EA during this year's presentation, something the studio seems to be leaning into given the social distancing and stay-at-home order still in effect around the world. Crossplay seemed like a distant dream not too long ago, but we are finally seeing major publishers like EA go all 🍨in on the feature and present it as a major selling point for their upcoming games.

Star Wars: Squadrons will feature crossplay between PS4, Xbox One, and PC when it releases on October 2nd, meaning no matter which platform you choose you'll be able to squad up with your friends and compete in dog fight challenges in Squadrons robust PvP multiplayer game modes.

The other major feature discussed during today's livestream is full VR support for the game. Th🦹at means players with Oculus Rift, HTC Vive, Steam Index, and PSVR can all enjoy the complete single-player campaign and the full competitive multiplayer experience in virtual reality. Though it's worth mentioning that apparently use either the Oculus Rift S or the PSVR for the best experience.

While this isn't technically the first time a game has supported full crossplay, including VR, it is nevertheless a major IP and a huge title coming out that supports a complete gaming ecosystem. Your squad can be made up of a player on Xbox, a PSVR play🦹er, a PC player, and an Oculus Rift player, all playing together and sharing the experience.

Star Wars: Squadrons is coming out October 2nd on PཧS4, Xbox One, PC, and all VR platforms. It has a $39.99 MSRP.
