With over forty years of content, Star Wars has been a cultural juggernaut since 1977. It has covered nearly everything from movies, television shows, comics, books, toys, and of course, video games. 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Star Wars: Squadrons ജis the newest video game in♑ the long-running franchise: a flight combat game that emulates the feeling of dogfighting in legendary ships, and does it with flair.
With so much 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:high speed galactic action, fans a🀅re bound to miss some of the finer details that the developers put in the game, as they’re put in the cockpits of their favorite ships for hours at a time. On closer inspection, there is a lot of value in the finer details.
10 Canon Means Canon ꧃
Star Wars: Squadrons has players fighting on the side of both the Rebels and the Empire, and each side has four classes of fighter: Fighter, Interceptor, Bomber, and Support. Even though each fℱaction has a representative for each of these clas🦂ses, every ship is still drastically different. Something that surprised many players is the fact that three out of the four available Empire ships have no shields to work with, due to TIE fighters not being equipped with shields in the actual canon of Star Wars. This detail is very faithful to the series, but more defensive players may have a harder time because of it.
9 ﷺ Back 2 The Battlefront 🦩
EA has had a surprisingly solid streak of Star Wars games within the l😼ast few years, with one in particular that had a troublesome start but eventually came around to 𓆏the light side of the Force: Star Wars Battlefront 2.
This 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:multiplayer Battlefield-style shooter has reclaimed the hearts of many fans over the years, a♌nd the main character of the campaign, Iden Versio, is mentioned by name in Star Wars: Squadrons as yet another member of the Empire who has defected to the Rebels. Fans are constantly waiting for little references to other works that they’ve loved in the Star Wars universe; hopefully this wasn’t the last.
8 😼 The Ghost Rides Again
References are one thing, but fans will go absolutely ballistic for an actual character inclusion in their Star Wars media. It’s especially a talking point when a character comes from Star Wars: Rebels: a series that fans are constantly begging for representation from. Star Wars: Squadrons fulfills th🍃at wish for many, and includes Hera Syndulla, a fan-favorite main character in Rebels and at this point in the story, a general for the Rebellion. Fans were ecstatic to see where her character wound up in the grand scheme of things, and although her role is relatively smaller in the game than it was in Rebels, it was still such a pleasant surprise to see her.
7 𓂃 𓆏 Thrawn To The Curb
Grand Admiral Thrawn is one of the most celebrated characters in Star Wars history, even though he originated not from the films, but from the books. A popular trio of now non-canon books (known as the Thrawn Trilogy) was🍌 wri✤tten by Timothy Zahn shortly after Return of the Jedi was released, and fans fell in love with this character and his strategic brilliance, which was based around studying the art of a culture to understand their combat strategies.
Thrawn was so beloved that he was brought back in Star Wars: Rebels, and is mentioned by name in the campaign of Star Wars: Squadrons. Hopefully fa🥃ns get to see Thrawn in a future game or on the big screen sooner rather than later.
6 ಌ VR Masteryꦫ Required
VR support for a cockpit-based Star Wars flight game was almost a no-brainer, and the creators of Star Wars: Squadrons definitely felt this way. Include⛄d at launch was VR support for the entire game, and fans were ecstatic to get into the seat of an X-Wing and see the entirety of space around them. What many players aren’t made aware of, however, is the fact that VR play provides gamers with a huge advantage. With a VR headset, pilots can look all around their cockpit and make eye contact with targets before their targeting system catches them. It’s enough to convince players that they’re the next Luke Skywalkeꩲr.
5 🍎 ⛄ Trandoshan For Hire
The Trandoshans have always been shown in a bad light in the Star Wars universe, always being shown as evil miscreants. One of the most notable Trandoshans was Bossk: a feared bounty hunter that rivalled the likes of Boba Fett. That being said, the Rebel Vanguard Squadron is a very diverse cast of characters, and one of which is a Trandoshan by the name of Frisk. One of the most likeable characters in the crew, Frisk is one𝔉 of, if not the only, Trandoshan in the Star Wars franchise to be one of the go𒁃od guys. With such a cool design, it’s fantastic to see that not all of these folks are fighting for a bad cause.
4 Chillingly Accurate𝔉 🦄
A constant of the Ga൩lactic Empire since the conception of the Star Wars franchise has always been that its members are almost exclusively human. “Aliens” have not been welcomed in seated positions with the Empire, unless they are as irreplaceable as Grand Admiral Thrawn.
Star Wars: Squadrons keeps this consistency and shows it in spades by having the Rebel Vanguard Squadron composed of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:manyꦅ different alien races an🎃d humans alike, while the Empire’s Titan Squadron is entirely comprised of human characters (the only questionable one is Shen who🌊 is masked for the enti🐭re time due to immense injury, but it is assumed that he is in fact human). It’s very obvious that the Empire’s opinion on this subject is a big social commentary for our world today.
3 🦩 You Fought𝐆 In The Clone Wars?
Throughout the many environments that Star Wars Squadrons, one of𒉰 the most visually striking areas is the Zavian Abyss: a dangerous pocket of space that is filled with dangerous asteroids and electrical storms. In this area, players may notice a nod to the Clone Wars era of the films and the television series: a destroyed Republic Jedi Cruiser. These ships are the precursor to the Star Destroyer design, and were used for transporting many Jedi and clone troopers across the galaxy. Whether it was destroyed by the electrical storms, or a botched hyperspace jump landed it in an asteroid field, it’s a bittersweet relic of time gone by.
2 🌜 Calamari Unite
The Mon Calamari race has been largely prominent since the beginning of Star Wars. Vanguard Squadron’s strategies are mainly overseen by the Empire defector Lindon Javes, and the Mon Calamari Ardo Barodai. The Mon Calamari have rarely ever been seen outside of a leadership role, leading all the way back to the trap-seeking strategy master Admiral Ackbar. Thankfully, the long-time veteran shows up via cockpit hologram to inform Vanguard Squ🐠adron of instructions going forward in one of the early missions. It’s unfortunate that he isn’t more present, but the torch was handed to Ardo Barodai, who proved to be just as efficient of a combat leader.
1 Where Have✱ All The Jedi Gone? 🐟
In the campaign, the legendary pilot Wedge Antilles comes aboard to aid Vanguard Squadron in their attempts to hijack a Star Destroyer and create a new Rebel weapon called the Starhawk. Wedge was introduced in the very first film and is 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:the face of Rogue Squadron: Luke Skywalker’s flight crew that were respons﷽ible for the destruction of the first and second Death Star. Wedge clearly still has a lot of admiration and respect for Luke Skywalker: at this point in the story, Luke’s flying days are mostly past him and he would be in the process of honing his skills as a Jedi and attempting to train the next generation of Jedi. At this point, Luke Skywalker is already a legend in the eyes of many throughout the galaxy, which is especially prevalent when Wedge tells🎉 Vanguard Squadron that they’re going to need a bit of “Skywalker luck” to pull off their mission.
