How Big Is The 1.6 Update Of Stardew Valley?

Within the original announcement of the 1.6 update in April of 2023, ConcernedApe noted that it would not be as big as the previous update, which added Ginger Island.

1.6 ended up being a little larger in scope than originally planned. I'm done adding major new content to it nowꦜ, though, and it's inꦚ a bug-fixing and polishing phase until it's ready for release. Thx for your patience. It'll be fun to see everyone play it!

Overall, it seems that the 1.6 update will bring a lot of new content to the game short🐎ly. Within the replies, he also noted that it will come to PC first, however, he doesn't intend for there to be a big delay.

Additionally, in another reply, ConcernedApe stated that it's not a full new area, but instead, expanding on the previous areas of the game.

New Festivals

In total, this update will add three new festivals, with two of them being 'mini festivals'. We aren't entirely su꧂re what makes a festival 'mini', how♈ever, it may be similar to the Night Market event that occurs on the beach during the Winter.

This is technically a fꦅestival, but it works a bit differently than other festivals in the valley and doesn't require an entire portion of the map to close.

There are no festivals that take place on Ginger Island; could one of these new festivals take place here?

New Year's Eve Event

For New Year's Eve in 2023, , complete with fireworks and villagers. This event may have its own store booth (run by ) like ot🌜her events, with a bunch of new items to buy.

New Farm Layout Choice

Along with three festivals, we are getting an entirely new farm layout! No information has been shared about this layout yet, but it's a great reason to start a new game when playing the 1.6 update.

Late & End Game Content

Currently, Stardew Valley has quite a bit of late to end-game content, ranging from dungeon crawling to striving for 100 percent perfection. This update is going to bring even more content, including the expansion of skills. This may mean a more complex skill tree with🎃 additional profe♋ssions.

Alongside skill expansion, the update will have 'Joja alternatives' for certain end-game quests. The main way many players complete Stardew Valley is by compl𝓀eting the Community Center, which kicks Joja Mart out of town, giving you the option to turn the old building into a movie theater.

The Joja Mart route is less taken, but with new end-game quest alternatives, we may see a Joja-fied version of traveling to Ginger Island for the first time.

In a post with no caption, ConcernedApe shared an image of a golden Ginger Island parrot sitting on a stand with the Joja Mart 'J' on it. The parrot seems to be asking for gold, which could be an alternative to the .

New Items

What's an update without new items to collect? In the September 2023 announcement of the update, ConcernedApe included a few item icons for us to take a look at, including a new Warp Totem, a purple drink, and what seems to be an arrow quiver.

On the announcement, we can also see some eggs, a mysterious ticket, a box with a question mark, and a strange fish statue that we aren't sure what to make of. Overall, the amount of new items isn't specified, but it should be exciting to explore and gathe♍r.

NPC Dialogue & Clothing

There are dozens of Stardew V🍎alley mods out there that tweak NPC clothing and dialogue, giving them a bit more life. Thankfully, this i༒s officially coming to the game!

In addition to over 100 new dialogue options, villagers will have unique Winter outfits. Some gamers are speculating t🥃hat this update may focus on Winter, with the new farm type being Winter-themed, however, nothing is confirmed.

Still, we are very 🐓excited to see the villagers don puffy jackets, scarves, and𒆙 hats.

Multiplayer Support

Multipla🌜yer fans, rejoice! Previously, Stardew Valley supported up to four players. While this is great, it could potentially leave out a friend or two.

Update 1.6 will expand on this, supporting up to eight players on PC. This is a lot of people, which means a lot of farm space is needed. There is a chance that ไthe new farm type is a variation to handle this many players at the same time.

Billboard Request Rewards

In the 1.6 update, we can expect to see a new reward type for billboard requests. One question remains though; what is the billboard? This could either be the board right in front of Pierre's store, or the special orders board in front o🔜f Mayor Lewis' house.

Regardless of which boar🦹d, this new reward type could be motivation for completing these quests.

Miscellaneous Additions

Some new content can't be sorted into any specific category. Additionally, ConcernedApe remained a bit vague about certain fea♔tures. These additions are miscellaneous but still worth the ex꧒citement.

In the update post from September 2023, this miscellaneous content was simply called "many small additions and adjustments" and "new secrets & more". This, of course, is🔜 really vague, but we do have some hints.

Firstly, in this announcement, we can see three variations of frogs. The one in the center is black with a red eye, similar to the color of . Is this a Void Frog? If so, will we be able to catch frogs? In addition to this, ConcernedApe posted a casual picture in October 2023 of cats and dogs wearing hats. This is small, but we may get the chance to dress up our farm pets!

In typical ConcernedApe fashion, he also posted "iridium scythe" with absolutely no context. Currently, we can only obtain a normal scythe and a gold version, but we may get a third variation of this tool.
