Speedrunners could be considered the antithesis of game developers. Where the latter painstakingly craft mechanics to ensure games are played as intended, speedrunners will dismantle the game to get their way. Such is the case with Olenoname's Stardew Valley run for Awesome Games Done Quick 2022.
This year's Stardew Valley category involved building a Town Community Center as quickly as possible with glitches enabled, and the speedrunner managed it in just over 17 minutes (thanks, ). While the life sim is normally known for its slow pace and calm setting, Olenoname broke it by unleashing absolute carnage upon his own farm.
He started off by deleting a number of his own tools, and tricking the friendly neighbours into giving him a whole bunch of items. This glitch involves code hidden in the dialogue with these neighbours. Olenoname manages this by naming his character a long list of item codes. This results in the NPC neighbour giving them these items when they address him by name. A neat little trick to easily get the items he needs. He then proceeds to systematically bomb his land to clear out the trees. He eventually b🅠uilds up the town community center and ends the run at 17 minutes and 13.8 seconds.
It's feats like this that spurred viewers to donate to the Prevent Cancer Foundation. 2022 however, has been a special year for the event as it not only managed to reach 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:$1 million in record time, but it also hit the 168澳🍸洲幸运5开奖网:$2 million mark faster than it ever has.
"I'm incredibly happy with the support we've received thus far, and itching to see how far it goes", Matt Merkle, director of operations at Games Done Quick told us. "Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, it's all for a great cause."
Today is the last day of the week-long event. You'll be able to catch a Legendary run of Halo: Combat Evolved by Chronos_R, a blindfolded, any percent run of Serkiro: Shadows Die Twice by Mitchriz, an Extreme, all bosses run of Metal Gear Solid by dlimes13, and the classic all bosses (no exploration glitch) run of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past by hotarubi_ta.
