"So much for the Starfield watch. It's dead after a month and a week," says Reddit user Tovrin. "I left it on the charger and a day later... the watch is dead. I tried everything to get it working, including support instructions on the Bethesda website and nothing would bring it back.
"I am not expecting any satisfaction. I'm not expecting a repair or replacement. It'll probably be going back into the box it came with... dead forever."
Others say this has also happened to their watches, strongly suggesting that this isn't an isolated case.
"Mine died a few days, maybe a week after I got it," says AedarSIVA. " [...] after I left it charging one night, the software seemingly bricked itself. I have been exchanging emails with Bethesda support for almost a month now. Right now, I've sent it back to them, and I'm waiting for them to confirm sending me a replacement."
It seems that with enough persistence, you will be able to arrange for the watch to be sent back to Bethesda, who should send you a replacement. You'll just have to make it through all of the initial steps, where the support team may ask you to attempt repairs that you've already tried.
It's not surprising to see fans complain of this now, as there were issues with the watches as soon as they turned up on our doorsteps . Some would boot them up to find issues with the screen, not displaying the UI correctly, or clearly being damaged in some way. Others couldn't get them to boot up at all. It's not clear where things went wrong and whether this was an issue in production or during transit, but it sadly seems that the watches aren't totally reliable right now, so fans should regularly check theirs for any faults.
Bethesda hasn't issued a statement on the complaints, but it is responding to those who go through the support team, which certainly seems to be the best channel to go through if you're one of the affected customers.
