168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Microsoft and Bethesda showed off 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Starfield on Sunday, and its defining feature was its overwhelming scale. That sheer size extended to its 46-minute presentation, tacked onto the end of the already hour-long 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Xbox Games Showcase, which Phil Spencer humorously refeꦗrred to as “one more thing.” But that supersized direct seemed necessary to convey the hugenessಞ of the game.
Bethesda gave more extensive looks at the four major cities it has shown before: Neon, Akila City, New Atlantis, and Cydonia. Bethesda says New Atlantis is the biggest city it has ever built for a game, and it looks like it, with towering buildings and impressive sprawl. The presentation returned to the sales pitch that there are over 1,000 planets to explore in the game, and it drove this point home by showing a player exploring a planet, before saying that, yes, you could fly to the moon in the distance, too. It showed the player getting into firefights in an abandoned research center, stumbling onto an old mine, and walking across ꧅hills as strange creatures strolled by in the background.
Then there's the fact that you can build huge spaceships and settlements, and invite your companions to join you in the journey. The direct showed that it was possible to fight ships from the comfort of your cockpit, or board them for cowboy justice. It looks like it's going to give you a solar system at your disposal.
But the detail that really brought home the scale of the game for me may seem a little strange. At one point in the presentation, Bethesda showed the player . The moment was introduced by Zachary Wilson, Starfield's senior level designer, while walking through the different kinds of ships players will be able to board while exploring the game's galaxy. This begins with a discussion of the game's space combat, which allows you to fight in first-person or third-person, or to board a ship and fight enemies on their own turf. But, Wilson pointed out that you'll also be able to board ships for non-violent reasons.
There are "star yards" which seem to be floating cities in space where you'll be able to buy new ships. Or, "Maybe you'll dock with a gigantic battleship like the U.C. Vigilance," Wilson said, "or rub elbows with the galaxy's wealthy elite on a cruise ship fit for the stars." It was those brief shots of the ship's interior that communicated how massive Starfield looks to be. I've been mildly disappointed that the game only seems to have four major cities, given that its world contains so many planets. But, seeing the contrasting interiors of the spartan battleship and the luxurious pleasure liner drove home how much else could be waiting out there in space. The cruise ship looks unassuming on the outside, but inside it's opulent, with golden statues, violet trees, and celebratory balloons as those onboard wear formal clothes and hobnob with their elite pals.
There's still a good chance that huge swaths of the game will end up feeling empty, but seeing a swanky party out there at a random location in space gives me hope that there will be plenty of cool stuff to find. After all, the presentation assured us that Starfield has a ton of spaceships and a big enough spaceship is basically a city.
