If you take the 'Kid Stuff' trait while perusing 's character creation screen, you'll be sending 500 credits to your folks at the end of every week.
Since they're taking your hard-earned money, you ought to get as much out of your mother and father as possible, and visiting them is the first step toward that. Does our preceding sentence sound kind of ruthless? Maybe, but that doesn't make it untrue. So, go say hi. Get things. Win-win situation.
Take The NAT To The Residential District
It probably goes without saying, since you'll get there so quickly into the game, but you will need to have access to New Atlantis on Jemison before you can do this. Good news is, that's about 20-30 minutes into Starfield, at which point you have freedom to check out the entire capital of the United Colonies.
The 'NAT' is the name of New Atlantis' much-needed rapid transit service. Though it's possible to access much of the city without using the NAT - though not all, for the record! - heading to the NAT terminal in the Spacedock District and selecting Residential District is a much quicker path. Not to mention much simpler, if you're overwhelmed by the size of this place early on. (Don't worry, you'll get the hang of New Atlantis soon enough.)
Ride The Elevator Up Pioneer Tower
Exiting the NAT at the Residential District, Pioneer Tower is conveniently located almost exactly to your right. It's the closest major structure to the terminal here by a considerable margin, which means that Starfield's design team took pity on those of us who want to see the folks more than once.
Pioneer Tower's first floor is a ritzy restaurant called The Roost. Youll find a couple of early quests here.
Take the elevator in Pioneer Tower, which only lets you go one place - your parents' apartment. Convenient! Speak with them, have some fun, and no, you won't really get anything for your trouble just yet. Your father will bring you a nice early gun at Constellation's headquarters, the Lodge, however.
More importantly, Noel at the Lodge will occasionally receive notes from your parents asking you to go see them. Head up Pioneer Tower again, and you'll get something nice from time to time, including a starship. Now, that's got to be worth more than 500 credits.
