So, here's the thing. At least as of launch, there is no in-game option in to adjust its FOV - that stands for 'field of view' - to your taste. And not everyone is going to be happy with the FOV as it stands.
Truly, not everyone will be happy with any game's FOV, which is why it's not a bad idea for developers to include the choice within their games - but development is long, costly, and draining, and no doubt Bethesda needed to prioritize certain things over it. That's where user-adjusted settings come in, and if you're on PC, you're in for a treat.
No Fix On Xbox, But PC Users Can Adjust FOV
We got the console bit out of the way in a nice big header, so that if you're wondering how to alter Starfield's FOV with an Xbox Series X or Series S, you can sigh and hope for an eventual patch or console-specific mod. Heck, there is, indeed, already a mod for this on Nexus - and that's great, and worth looking into, but it's not what we'll discuss today. After all, you can tweak this all on your own on PC, and it doesn't take much.
Here's how to adjust the frame of view on PC Starfield to your personal tastes: you need to get to wherever Starfield's saved on your computer. We're running on the default, and thus most likely, scenario. First, head into Documents on your computer.
This is assuming you're using Windows, by the way. If you've got Starfield working on another OS somehow, we regret to inform you we're not sure firsthand how to make this happen.
From Documents, click My Games, followed by - again, if the game's saved where it 'should' be - Starfield. Now, you'll need to create a text document, and it's vitally important that you label it precisely as we say. Indeed, we were not the first to figure this out, but we appreciate that you're reading along with us; smart folks know smart things, and they know for certain the game won't register any text file but this.
StarfieldCustom.ini is the name you need. Don't keep '.txt' lingering at the end, but still keep it as a text file. There's only one thing you need to type in the .ini-titled text file, and it's as follows:
[Camera]
fFPWorldFOV=x
fTPWorldFOV=x
Now, adjust the 'x' value to your preferred FOV, and do feel free to enter and exit Starfield several times until you find what suits you. Starfield's set at 75, so if you raise the number here, you're widening the FOV. Presto - you can enjoy more Starfield on your screen!
