It’s a risky strategy since if you get caught, you’re dangling in a wide-open space with your pants down. No shields means weapons will tear through your hull, and no weapons means you can’t fight back. The first hurdle will be scrambling to get these systems online while ꧂dodging enemy fire, likely being blown to smithereens in the gambit. If you’re caught sneaking around on foot, you can whip out a minigun and send enemies packing to hell. In space, things are less forgiving, and so stealth iไs a much tighter balance.

After this mission, you can venture across the Settled Systems with an expensive, high-tier ship and blast enemies to pieces. But if you’re running an evil charact🅠er who likes to drag things out and get as much loot as possible, blowing up entire ships is an awful idea. You need to board them. To do that, you have to aim for their engines mid-battle, which puts you at a huge disadvantage as your movement is much more restricted, so it’s all about sticking to the shadows and getting the jump on unsuspecting targets.

For a good chunk of my first playthrough, I hung around asteroids and ship debris mid-system with my shields and weapons left unpowered, gradually crawling across the abyssꦅ towards UC ships. Once in range, I’d enable just enough firepower to shred their engꦗines as fast as possible. Before they could even react, they’d be dangling in the open, ready to be boarded.

You can even steal and pawn the ships, or keep them as part of your growing fleet. Stealth pays well, far more than༒ loudly smashing things does. Ste🃏alth also keeps you alive. Not every dogfight will swing in your favour, and like stealth archer, this playstyle is as much about avoiding unnecessary conflict as it is about one-shotting every target without getting caught. You might have a decent ship, but five UC fighters to your one makeshift shuttle will cost you damages and repair kits if you survive in the first place.

I have spent a lot of time in Starfield visiting solar systems far exceeding my level, knowing full well that fights will probably get me killed. I’ve gone to these places for the higher-grade loot and more bountiful XP payouts, but it’s risky. One Terramorph jumpscare and I’m up shit creek without a paddle. Getting to the planets is half the battle, though. Their orbits are often plagued with enemies looking for a fight, and chan🎃ces are ships 20 levels higher than you are going to put you out of business, permanently.

In these cases, I’d simply glide by while preparing to land, often avoiding conflict altogether. Ships can’t crouch, but the delegation of resources to do the equivalent is equal parts impressive as it is plain fun. That&rsquo🍬;s what stealth archer boiled down to. We all did it because avoiding janky Bethesda combat while still being unstoppable was the perfect middle ground, and replicating that in ship form couldn&rsqu💝o;t be more fitting.
