As you explore the expanse of 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:Starfield, you’ll find yourself exploring new planet🍰s and investigating cosmic mysteries. You’ll tag along with Constellation as they seek out strange Artifacts throughout the galaxy, since one of those is the reason you were able to leave the mining operation on Vectera in the first place.
Afte🎐r your first mission with Sarah is complete, there are three main quests to pursue. One of them has you teaming up wi🐷th the handsome cowboy Sam, where the two of you follow a clue to a new location for an Artifact.
Travel To Akila
You can talk to Sam at the Lodge to begin The Empty Nest quest. When you're ready, you will want to set a course for the planet , which is in the Cheyenne System.
Akila is part of the Freestar Collective, so you'll be scanned for contraband as you enter planetary space. Touch down in Akila City, and make your way inside the gates. If this is your first time here, you'll quickly find yourself tangled in an ongoing hostage situation at the bank.
How To Save The Hostages
After you and Sam get briefed on the situation, you have the opportunity to act as a neutral negotiator. Here are some dialogue choices that may help persuade the bank robbers to release the hostages:
- Don’t you want to get out of there?
- Talking to me is the only way you’re getting out of here alive.
- Don’t waste my time with this bullshit. You and I both know you have no choice but to trust me.
- There’s no good outcome for you here. If you give up now, at least you’ll still have your lives.
- This is between you and the Marshal. Leave innocent people out of it.
Quicksave right before attempting to persuade them, just in case something goes wrong and you want to try again. The order for options depends on other choices in your negotiation dialogue.
Get The Map For Sam
Once you have the hostage situation under control, you and Sam will head downstairs to the lower vault in the bank.
Sam will give you a key card that can open up several lockers in the vault, but you’re looking for an item called “Note for Sam.” This should be in one of the lockers on the right side of the room. After Sam reads the note, he realizes someone named Jacob took the map already.
Sam isn’t exactly too keen on opening up about who Jacob is, but you can persuade him to tell you. Otherwise, you can just head out to your next destination. If you end up saying that you’re just going to ask Cora who it might be, Sam will fess up.
Jacob is Sam's dad, and the two aren't on the best terms. Either way, you need to head to the Coe family estate to try and get this map.
Get The Map From Jacob
Jacob doesn’t like the idea of Sam rooting through the family’s history, and he especially doesn’t like Constellation. You can tell he's not going to simply give you the map, but it's locked in the room behind him.
During the conversation, if you let Sam speak up on your behalf, Sam will like that. This is good if you have any 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:interest in romancing Sam at some point.
After the initial conversation with Jacob, you will have a few options on how to get the map.
- You can go ask Cora for help.
- You can have Sam distract Jacob so you can get the map.
- You can try to persuade Jacob.
The quickest, and possibly the easiest option, is to have Sam distract Jacob. When Jacob steps away from the door, you can pick the lock. It’s a novice level lock, so it only has two security layers.
After retrieving the map, talk to Sam. He will look over the map, and tell you he knows where to go to get to the Empty Nest. Unfortunately, it’s in the middle of Shaw Gang territory, the same ones who held up the bank earlier.
Reach The Empty Nest
The Empty Nest is southeast and less than 1000 meters away from the city, so you can just walk to it. Be careful, as you may run into some Ashta out in the savannah, which is a dangerous predator whose attacks can really hurt.
Once you reach the Empty Nest, you’ll see Shaw Gang members and robots patrolling the whole area:
Enemy Level |
Enemy Type |
Lvl. 2, 10 |
Shaw Gang |
Lvl. 6 |
Shaw Gang Robot |
None |
Turret MK 1 |
Keep to the high ground as long as you can, and 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:sneak around undetected so you can come up with a plan of attack. One of the first things you'll want to do when you initiate combat is to destroy the turrets. No turrets raining down on you will make the fight easier, and you'll be able to pick off each gang member one at a time.
The savannah grass around you can catch on fire and burn you if you’re in it. Be careful about setting off mines on the ground or being near an exploding grenade.
Get The Artifact Inside The Empty Nest
Once all the outside grunts are handled, head inside the Empty Nest. There will be a few more Shaw Gang members to fight inside as well, but you'll want to continue heading deeper into the cave.
There is an expert level 168澳洲幸运5开奖网:contraband catche here. Unless you have already leveled up your Security skill, you might need to come back later for this.
Turn on your headlight, as the cave will get pretty dark. Some enemies are also waiting for you in the shadows of the cave ahead.
As you go through the cave, you'll find antimony, cobalt, aluminum, and nickel. Make sure to mine these if you need them.
The Artifact is buried at the end of the cave. Like you did with the one back on Vectera, use a cutter to loosen it up. Then you can just take Artifact Chi.
Deal With Shaw
Unfortunately, as you leave the Empty Nest, you’re greeted by more of the Shaw Gang, and none other than Shaw herself. She has you cornered, and says you need to pay up to keep your life. You are presented with a few options on how to proceed:
- You can try to persuade Shaw.
- You can pay 4000 credits to leave with your life.
- You can attack and fight them off.
While you can choose any option, here are some dialogue choices to help you easily persuade Shaw to let you go:
- This is an important scientific discovery. Let us go and you’ll be in the history books!
- We got past all your crew before. You fight us, you lose.
Regardless of how you decide to handle Shaw, retrieving the Artifact weakened some kind of deterrent that was keeping the nearby Ashta away. Several Ashta descend on the Empty Nest, and you will need to fight them off.
If you persuaded or paid Shaw, the Shaw Gang will help you fight the Ashta. Only a few attack the camp, and with the help of the Shaw Gang, they go down pretty easily.
If you talk to Shaw after the fight, she’ll give yꦕou some ammo (and tell you to scram).
Return The Artifact To The Lodge
Once all the commotion has died down, you can make your way back to Akila City to get to your ship. You will want to return to Jemison and head back to the Lodge.
Add the Artifact to your collection, and you’ll be finished with The Empty Nest quest. Your rewards for the quest are experience, 7200 credits, a Scout’s Calibrated Rattler, and some ammo.
You can then recruit Sam to your team, with the caveat that Cora will also be joining you on your ship. Sam has specialties in Piloting, Rifle Certification, Payload, and Geology.
