has revealed that the is receiving an OLED model on November 16, and one of the biggest improvements is that it'll have a better battery life than the previous model.
Ever since the Steam Deck first released, Valve fans have been wondering whether the console would get an OLED upgrade similar to what the Nintendo Switch received. Valve has previously been hush-hush about the possibility, butꩲ more and more evidence has been popping up for an OLED model over the ⭕past few months, making it seem very likely. Now, Valve has randomly decided to pull back the curtain and reveal that an OLED Steam Deck is not only happening, it's happening really soon.
Not only has Valve just ♒revealed the Steam Deck OLED, and expected in two-to-three years.
, Valve was eventu🌠ally able to officially confirm the console with a trailer that was shared on Twiꦛtter and highlighted all of the changes that are coming with the Steam Deck OLED. The first and most obvious difference between the OLED model and the original is the screen, which is a 1280 x 800 HDR OLED display.
That's likely already enough of an improvement for a new model, but one of the other things that the Steam Deck OLED improves is the battery life. According to Valve, this mode will have between 30 and 50 percent better battery life than the original Steam Deck OLED, which is pretty big considering the main complaint about the original was how often it needed to be charged.
Some of the other nཧew features o🍸f the OLED model include it being five percent lighter than the previous LCD models and having faster downloads thanks to the addition of Wifi 6E. Basically, it looks like the Steam Deck OLED is better than the original LCD model in pretty much every single way.
Of course, those upgrades don't come for free. Alongside detailing the new specs for the Steam Deck OLED, the store page also reveals how much it's going to cost. The first OLED Steam Deck model will have 512GB of storage and run you back around $549/ £479, while the second model comes with 1TB of storage for $649/ £569.
Both models can currently be pre-ordered off of the Steam Deck store page and are listed with a release dat⛄e of November 16. The page is also offerin🍷g a special edition OLED model that has a unique colourway and is exclusive to the United States and Canada.
